Men’s Track Place 4th In Messiah Invitational

The Frostburg State University (FSU) Men’s track team traveled to Pennsylvania and placed top five in the Messiah Invitational.

In the 4×400 relay Mark Vaughns, Clay Washington, Paul James III, and Nathaniel Mesy came in first place. The time was 3:25:59 two personal records were set for both Vaughns and Washington. Vaughns’s time was 22:67, and Washington’s time was 22:37.

The pole vault event gained another first place under FSU’s belt. Tom McCoy finished first place at a height of 4.50m. Adam Smith who also participated in the pole vault scored a new personal best with a height of 3.60m.

In the decathlon, Marquise Burkes placed second just barely missing first place by ten points. Burks participated in the shot put and discus and broke his personal records in both. The score not only set a new personal record for him, but also placed him at the top of the Mountain East Conference (MEC). Finally Burks’s score put him in fourth place in FSU track and field history.

Justus LePrevost, Caden Jones, and Kole Morgan were the distance runners of the invitational. In the steeplechase LePrevost gained a time 10:11:72 which is became personal best.

Morgan and Jones competed in the 1500-meters. Jones finished with a time of 4:31:32 and Morgan finished in 4:33:45.

In the field events, competing was Eric Montgomery, Jared Johnson, and Brandon Hass. Montgomery scored his personal best in the triple jump with 11.89m. Johnson threw for a distance of 38.25m setting his personal record. Finally, Hass set a personal record in both the hammer throw and discus throw events. 34.51m was the discus distance. 32.25 was the hammer throw distance.

The FSU track team will take the field again next week on April 16th to compete in the Golden Eagle Invitational in Charleston WV.
