The NFL draft is this Thursday at 8:00 PM through Saturday where many young men will hear their name called and have their dream fulfilled of playing in the National Football League. But some NFL teams will have their dreams fully realized as well. As some of the prospects that they choose will help push them towards a championship. Here are five teams that if they hit on some draft picks this year could make a case for a Super bowl championship this offseason.

1. The SanFrancisco 49ers

With the 3rd pick in the draft the 49ers cannot mess this up. They have the option to draft Justin Fields, Tre Lance or Mac Jones, and I would rank these quarterbacks exactly in that order. The 49ers traded up for the third pick to get somebody special, that would take Coach Shanahan’s offense to the new heights, and get them over the hump to be Super Bowl contenders once again. Quarterback is their only real hole.

2. The Miami Dolphins

With the 6th pick in the draft the Dolphins should take a talented receiver to build off of their great performance last season. Whoever they draft with this pick and depending on the play of Tua Tagovailoa, the dolphins can build off a great 2020 campaign.

3. The Arizona Cardinal

With the 16th pick in the draft the Arizona Cardinals have a solid 2020 to campaign to build off on this upcoming season. They most likely will target a cornerback to help Malcom Butler, who will help bolster an already talented defense. With Kyler Murray on the rise as well the sky’s the limit.

4. The Indianapolis Colts

With the 21st overall pick in the draft the Colts are already loaded and will be just looking for the best overall player to pick. They may take another receiver to help Carson Wentz but we know they are bound to do that at some point of the draft. But their team is strong on the defensive and offensive side of the football.

5. The Cleveland Browns

The Browns have the 26th pick in the draft. The only spot needed for improvement would be the interior of the defensive line. They have Myles Garret, and they have Jadeveon Clowney but they need more help on the D-line if they want to contend for a Super Bowl.

The NBA playoffs are a month away, and as teams settle into their final spots in the standings, some aim for the playoffs by first getting into a play-in the tournament spot. We will aim our focus on the top three teams from each conference and why they have a shot at the championship this year. First, we will start with the Eastern Conference.

The number one team in the east that can contend for the championship is the Brooklyn Nets. Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, James Harden, nothing else needs to be said. With three superstars on this team that can score at any level, along with MVP awards and championship experience, nothing could stop them from winning the championship except themselves.

The second team would be the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks still have the majority of their core from last year, but the addition of Jrue Holiday has helped them tap into another gear. Holiday’s presence also gives them another star to play alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo.

How far they go in the playoffs depends on Khris Middleton’s and Jrue Holiday’s performance. Antetokounmpo will perform in the playoffs like he always does. He is dependable, but his support system must be consistent.

The third team is the Philadelphia 76ers. Joel Embiid has been playing at an MVP level this year, and Ben Simmons has been reliable as always. The only thing holding them back is their shooting. With the addition of Seth Curry, their shooting has been great this year do not get me wrong, but can he and other supporting cast members bring this team into the playoffs?

In the Western Conference, the number one team of course would be the defending champs, the LA Lakers. The only thing stopping the Lakers right now is health, but when LeBron James and Anthony Davis come back I believe they will get them back to championship form.

The second would be the LA Clippers. With two-time finals MVP Kawhi Leonard, and partner in crime Paul George, outside of the Lakers they have the best chance to make it out the West.

The third and final team would have to be the Utah Jazz. The Jazz have been the best team in the West consistently all year with great defense and great shooting. The Jazz are one of the favorites to contend for the championship, but they will have to knock off the Clippers or Lakers to get there. The main question with that scenario would have to be: do they have enough closers when that can be clutch when the team needs them to be? It will take at least one to get them past these juggernauts in the Lakers and the Clippers.

The NFL draft is only a few weeks away as April 29th through May 1st we will see teams’ and prospect’s futures changed. There are five highly talented quarterbacks coming in from college who have made a significant amount of noise to where they are labeled the top quarterback prospect in this draft. The quarterbacks that I am talking about are Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields, Zach Wilson, Trey Lance, and Mac Jones. Thanks to the media, we already know for the most part who will be the top three quarterbacks off the board. This most likely will be Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, and Mac Jones.

But, what about Trey Lance and Justin Fields.

The fourth pick in the draft belongs to the Atlanta Falcons who have told teams they are willing to trade their pick. This would be a smart move by the falcons for three reasons.

One, they do not need a quarterback, so a team that needs one could swap picks with Atlanta and also could give them more picks of course in this year or next year’s draft, or even a player of interest.

Two, they could trade back knowing that the top defenders in the draft will most likely not be selected within the top 10 picks in the draft. So they can still get their guy by just moving back a bit.

Three, this would help the Falcons rebuild faster by gaining more picks or players.

The Carolina Panthers have the 8th overall pick in the draft, and could pick the last considered top-five draft prospect at quarterback. But, they do not need to. This past week the Panthers traded for Sam Darnold who they think would thrive in their system. They also gave up draft picks to get him so it makes sense that they would be open to trade offers for their draft pick as they are looking to add to their defense for next year.

I think the teams that should be looking to trade up to get one of these spots would be the New England Patriots, Washington Football Team, Chicago Bears, and Denver Broncos.

New England still has Cam Newton yes, but I do not think Cam is the direction New England is looking for. That is unless Cam has a monster season, but everyone is pretty sure they will be looking more towards the future.

Washington Football Team signed Ryan Fitzpatrick but there’s no way that Fitzpatrick will be the answer long-term for them.

Chicago Bears coach and general manager will be looking for new jobs next season if they cannot get things together in Chi-town.
So, what would be a better bargaining chip than to bring in a top quarterback prospect? After whiffing on Mitchell Trubisky, and passing on Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson, the Bears need a culture change on the offensive side of the football.

Lastly, Denver Broncos need to put pressure on Drew Lock. He has been given plenty of weapons to produce on offense, yet has shown little to no promise. The Broncos need that position answered if they want to get to the Super bowl.

After the huge trade in the NFL earlier this week that moved team’s draft positions, I decided to do a new top 12 mock draft that includes the three teams that moved their positions.

This trade happened on March 26th in the evening, which started when the Miami Dolphins traded their 3rd overall pick to the 49ers for their 12th pick, and also a first and third in next year’s draft, and another first rounder in 2023’s draft.

The Dolphins then traded the 12th pick to the Eagles for the 6th overall pick, also giving Philadelphia a first round pick for next year, and swap picks in the later rounds of this draft. So, now that the table is set let’s dive into a new mock draft with the new order.

Jacksonville Jaguars: Quarterback Trevor Lawrence. This is the easiest pick of the draft and we have known for some time now that he would be selected 1st overall.

New York Jets: Quarterback Zach Wilson. With rumors that Sam Darnold’s days are numbered in New York, the Jets may be looking to reboot with Wilson at the helm. They will most likely trade Darnold either on draft night, or leading up to it.

San Francisco 49ers: Quarterback Mac Jones. A lot of scouts and coaches have fallen in love with Jones over the last two weeks, and even though there are far more talented quarterbacks available with Justin Fields or Trey Lance, Mac Jones is starting to seem like the favorite.

Atlanta Falcons: Tight End Kyle Pitts. With all the noise that’s surrounding Kyle Pitts I find it hard to believe that Atlanta will pass up on this generational talent. Kyle Pitts has wide receiver speed and fluidity that will have an immediate impact on the league.

Cincinnati Bengals: Offensive Lineman Penei Sewell. A lot of people would have Ja’Marr Chase as going 5th overall, but honestly, Cincinnati is not in dire need of a offensive weapon. They need to protect their franchise player in Joe Burrow who will be coming from a bad ACL tear.

Miami Dolphins: Wide Receiver Ja’Marr Chase. I think this is a no brainer. This year, the Dolphins goal should be to surround Tua Tagovailoa with weapons around him offensively. They already signed Will Fuller, and still have DeVante Parker and Mike Gesicki. So, adding Chase to that trio may put Miami’s offense in the driver’s seat.

Detroit Lions: Wide Receiver Devonta Smith. This was a hard decision due to the fact that Detroit has needs everywhere on the field, and especially on the defensive side of the ball. But, with Marvin Hall and Kenny Golladay gone, the Lions are gonna need a weapon for Jarred Golf.

Carolina Panthers: Quarterback Justin Fields. It would be a dream for the Panthers if Fields falls to the 8th spot. That’s only if Atlanta or Detroit does not think they need to upgrade at quarterback.

Denver Broncos: Quarterback Trey Lance. It’s time for Drew Lock to either step up or step down. Trey Lance will bring fierce competition with his raw athleticism and traits.

Dallas Cowboys: Defensive Back Patrick Surtain II. Easy pick for Dallas as they will be taking the best cornerback on the board after having horrendous secondary play this past season.

New York Giants: Linebacker Micah Parsons. Easily the best Linebacker in this draft. Parsons will step into a giants defense that is prime and ready to take off.

Philadelphia Eagles: Wide Receiver Jaylen Waddle. Considered one of the fastest wideouts in this year’s draft. Many think that Waddle, if he stayed healthy, would have been the best wide receiver at Alabama last season.

The NFC East 2021 division champs will not be set in stone this year, as all four teams will be competitive.

The Dallas Cowboys have one of the best rosters in the league on offense with arguably top 10 players at every skill position on that side of the ball, except for the tight end of course.

With the addition of Dan Quinn as defensive coordinator, their scheme should be better, resulting in better defensive play.

The major thing with the Cowboys, is that they always have talented teams, and can never close the deal. Let’s see what 2021 has in store for them.

The New York Giants will be interesting. They closed out the 2020 season playing very competitive football, and look to use that as a building foundation for the 2021 season.

With the additions of Kyle Rudolph, Kenny Golladay, and Adoree Jackson, the front office looks to be helping Daniel Jones by surrounding him with talent.

This also means that the clock is ticking on Daniel Jones’s production. My predictions are by thanksgiving, the Giants will know if Daniel Jones is their quarterback of the future or not.

The Washington Football Team is having a very successful rebuild. They were the 2020 division champs even with subpar quarterback play.

Even though Ryan Fitzpatrick will most likely be a bridge quarterback, I think Washington will be aggressive in this draft to land a quarterback as well. Also with the great addition of Curtis Samuel, the skill players in Washington are looking dangerous.

Lastly, The Philadelphia Eagles. Well, all I can say about this team is that we will see.

They were in cap hell this past offseason and Anthony Harris was a good signing, but some serious work needs to be done all around this team.

They will most likely be the worst team in this division this year and will have another top 10 draft pick next year.

If you thought Bill Belichick was going to keep letting the Patriots derail after Tom Brady abandoned ship, you can think again. Bill Belichick and the Patriots this offseason have been aggressive and have signed 11 players, with the majority of them that can make an impact.

Cam Newton was the first key signing. I believe this highlighted that the Patriots did not have any talent at the wide receiver or tight end spot.

So he brought in Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith who are arguably top prospects for their position. He also brought in two capable receivers in Nelson Agholor and Kendrick Bourne, who are solid wideouts, and upgrades from the ones they had on the roster last year.

Belichick also signed two solid defenders in linebacker Matt Judon and defensive back Jalen Mills.

All of these players are solid B grade players, but we know that under Belichick’s coaching they will turn into A caliber players.

With the 2021 schedule being out for the Patriots, we look at their upcoming schedule. At home the patriots will face: The Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New Orleans Saints, Cleveland Browns.

Away the Patriots will face: The Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, Indianapolis Colts, Houston Texans, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, Los Angeles Chargers. Looking at this schedule, I believe the Patriots could have a 10-6 or 11-5 record.

It may sound crazy, but four of their losses last year came down to the last possession. I think with these free agents this year they can close the gap. Coach Belichick always has a top 10 defense that will keep them in games, so all of their games will be in reach, they now have the weapons to overcome their shortcomings next year.

Do I think the Patriots will be a super bowl team? No. But, what I do see is a rebuilding Jets team in their division, Miami Dolphins who are unsure at quarterback, and also the Buffalo Bills who are the only sure playoff lock-in that division.

Outside of the AFC East, the Jaguars are rebuilding as well, the titans still have questions on the defensive side of the football. New Orleans has lost a lot of free agents and is unsure at quarterback.

The Texans are rebuilding and so are the falcons and panthers. Now I know a couple of these scenarios can change, but we will just have to wait for the 2021 season.

The Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie has just made a statement that the Eagles will do everything they can to make Jalen Hurts successful this upcoming season, rather than drafting a quarterback early or bringing in competition. I think this is a good decision for three reasons.
First, Jalen Hurts is cheap, and the Eagles are not contending for a super bowl anytime soon. Hurts has three more years on his rookie deal, and while that unravels, the Eagles would be rebuilding in those three years.
The wide receiving core should be upgraded, the offensive line needs youth, the defensive line is too expensive, and the cornerbacks and linebacking core are below average to mediocre.
Not to mention the Eagles are in cap hell right now as well. All of these problems can be fixed while Hurts is on his rookie contract, and hey, if he has a terrible 2021 campaign, The Eagles will have another top draft pick to select a quarterback next year.

Second, Hurts’s potential in my opinion could be a Russel Wilson or Deshaun Watson, and that’s only if the Eagles surround him with talent and great coaches to help develop him. In his four starts, he did have a 1-3 record, but as we already know the losses were mostly because of the team not on just him. In those games, he showed flashes of promise, with his best game being against the Arizona Cardinals, where Jalen looked like a stud throughout.
The only things that were seen needing work was Hurts’s reading of a defense, throwing mechanics, and accuracy. All the other intangibles he has.

Third, The eagles should aim for stability. The coaching staff has changed entirely, and players are being cut, released, and traded.

The right thing to do would be to keep players who have talent, and leadership intangibles to create a new culture in Philly. Jeffrey Lurie is an aggressive owner, and wants to aim for consistent success in the NFC.

On Thursday, February 18th, the Philadelphia Eagles traded Carson Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts.

Everyone knows about the quarterback drama the Eagles have dealt with the last two years.

But, now that the former number two overall pick is now out of Philly, we will look at what the future is for the Eagles. The Eagles have a new head coach in Nick Sirianni, who was thought to be help in Carson Wentz getting back to his MVP form, but now that Wentz is gone, his primary focus is Jalen Hurts.

Hurts didn’t have a spectacular 4 games, but he showed plenty of leadership and potential in those he played in.

Part of Hurts’s struggles was that he had a coach in Doug Pederson who refused to run the ball and with a lackluster cast of wide receivers around him.

The Eagles have the sixth pick in the 2021 NFL draft. There have been various opinions on what they should do with this pick. Some say they should draft a cornerback or a linebacker. Some say even a quarterback.

I believe what the Eagles should do is draft a wide receiver. I understand the Eagles have many holes on their roster, but a wide receiver is a hole that needs to be fixed right now.

The Eagles are in cap hell right now. Because they are not going to be able to afford any top wide receiver, they might as well draft one. Most of the Eagles’ problems this year came from that position and play calling.

The Eagles need to get back to being a run-first then play an action deep team. That’s the type of football that ended up winning them the Super Bowl. For the rest of the draft, they can tend to the other holes on offense and defense.

Another one of the things that needs to be on their to-do list is to trade Zach Ertz. Ertz came into the 2020 season wanting a contract extension to be the highest-paid tight end in football.

That demand didn’t age well as he had one of his worst seasons to date. Most likely, the Eagles will get a fourth or fifth-round pick for Ertz if they do end up trading him, and there are other veterans with huge contracts that the Eagles should try to trade or let go that will help the salary cap situation.

With a total of nine quarterbacks who likely are to be traded with also, six promising quarterbacks who are likely to be drafted. There will be a lot of changes to get used to.

Let’s start with the first trade that went down with the Lions and the Rams a little over a week and a half ago. The Los Angeles Rams traded former 1st round pick Jared Goff and three draft picks for Detroit Lions Matthew Stafford. With this move by the Rams, it shows that they are in a win-now mode. Not only by the upgrade at quarterback, but by them not having a first-round pick for the foreseeable future. Rumors started to spread that the head coach (HC) and general manager (GM) of the Rams were both dissatisfied with Goff’s play and know with the roster they have they can compete for a super bowl. Only time will tell how far Stafford will take Los Angeles.

After a terrible 2020 season, ESPN’s sports analysts have announced that the Philadelphia Eagles are looking to trade Carson Wentz. Wentz had the worst season of his career and most of his lackluster play was put on Doug Pederson and his staff. With an entirely new coaching staff in place and some familiarity, you would think Wentz would want to stay. But with an injury-riddled and aging roster, Wentz would like to resurrect his career somewhere else. Indianapolis and Chicago are the front runners to land him as the Colts and the Bears are in win-now mode. For Wentz to have the most success, he should go to Indianapolis. They have a great roster on both sides of the ball, and have great coaching with Frank Reich at the helm. The Bears are still a good landing spot, but maybe need more offensive weapons to compliment Wentz. The Eagles want two first-round picks for Wentz. Unfortunately, this most likely will not happen. A first-round pick and another draft pick with a current player is more realistic.

This NBA season so far has been one that will be remembered for a long time. With no fans, a 72 game season, and restricted activities for players and team staff; it can all take a toll on these people.

But of course, they continue to play on, determined to win at any cost and play their best basketball as possible. So that brings me to my three early MVP candidates for this NBA season in order.

This was a challenging task putting together this list of players knowing that arguably there are so many front runners to win MVP.

But after taking some time to think on this topic, I decided that my MVP front runner is Joel Embiid. Under head coach Doc Rivers this year, Joel Embiid looks like one of the best players in basketball and is having so far a career year.

Joel’s attitude has looked different, as he is more mature and looks more determined to will the 76ers to a championship.

He is averaging Shaquille Oneal type numbers with 29.6 points a game, 10.8 rebounds, a block a steal while shooting .400% from the three-point line and .851% from the free-throw line. If they are going to make a run at an NBA Championship, Ben Simmons will have to produce more as a shooter, and Tobias Harris, Seth Curry, and Danny Green will have to step up as well.

The second, of course, is Lebron James. You cannot have an MVP list without him either being the runner-up or the front runner.

What else does he need to add to his resume? He’s a four-time MVP winner, a four-time NBA champion, a four-time finals MVP, oh and he’s also 36 years of having another stellar year and not slowing down any time soon. He has the Lakers in second place in the western conference with close to identical numbers as last season with 25.7 points a game, 7.9 assists, and 8.2 rebounds a game.

The Lakers are the favorite to win the championship again as long as Anthony Davis provides that same postseason he did last year.

The third candidate came down to Stephen Curry and Damian Lillard.

Both phenomenal players, but with Stephen Curry’s team, they lack firepower. I understand that CJ McCollum is injured but with Klay Thompson’s injury, Steph has no one that even comes close to that.

He’s doing his best Lebron James impersonation carrying that team. Steph averages 30 points a game, 5.9 assists, 5.3 rebounds again. No need to mention his three-point percentage is .436% and his free throw percentage is .933%.

I do not think that the warriors are a championship contender, they can possibly win a playoff series but, Steph’s supporting cast needs to step up.
