“I knew immediately that this was something I could do for the rest of my life,” Sarah Thomas said about photography. Frostburg is full of so many amazing people. This town, and our campus, is home to extremely talented people. The world spends too much time tearing each other down. It’s time we start building each other up.

Sarah Thomas is a third-year photography student at Frostburg State University. She is a Cumberland local and she is running a small photography business called S. T. Photography. Thomas has always had a passion for photography, and her passion and talent are continuing to grow. “I have been practicing artistic photography since I was a child,” Thomas said of her history with photography. “I have loved photography ever since I took a photography workshop with a local artist, Penny Knobel-Besa, at eight years old.” Thomas has been practicing photography and bettering her skills. Now, she has built a professional, Cumberland-based business. “I have been doing weddings, engagement photos, and senior and family portraits for a few years now,” Thomas said, referencing her business, S. T. Photography. Thomas is studying at FSU to improve and hone her photography skills to a professional level. S. T. Photography does photo shoots for any occasion.

Photography is something that anyone can appreciate. Everyone has a memory that they have encapsulated in a photograph; a memory they can look back on because of the photograph. “Photography is so special to me because a photo captures a moment in time and makes it last forever,” Thomas said, discussing her love for photography. “Even when everything in your life changes, a photo stays the same.” Photographs are important for special moments that need to be remembered, such as weddings, engagements, graduations, or any moment that can forever be frozen in time.
