Field Hockey Road Trip to West Chester University

On Saturday October 23rd, Frostburg’s field hockey team made a road trip to West Chester Pennsylvania. The Bobcats played the number two ranked DII school, West Chester University.

The Lady Bobcats were ready for the match, even so they had a different outcome than what they were expecting. In the first quarter, West Chester kept making advancements leaving the Bobcats with the challenge of playing defense excessively. Frostburg’s Maggie Haupt kept the team in the game by making saves on goal. Despite Haupt’s effort, West Chester ended up scoring four goals by the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Frostburg was able to play more offense with two penalty corners being called on West Chester. Frostburg’s Olivia Wenzel and Taylor Hackett made great plays for the team to get goals. West Chester ended up finishing the second quarter with one goal and Frostburg zero. As the Lady Bobcats kept pushing all the way to the end, their opponents were able to continue securing more goals having a total of fourteen by the end of the fourth quarter. Frostburg field hockey plays again Tuesday, October 26th at Shippensburg.
