Frostburg Women’s Soccer Sets Winning Streak
On Wednesday evening, the Bobcats secured their third win in a row against West Liberty. Starting off the game, freshman defender Carolyn DeSena took the first shot on West Liberty’s keeper only to have it be deflected. The drive for the Bobcats continued as senior Audra Curtin kept making advancements on goal. Within the first fourteen minutes, a penalty kick was called and Curtin was able to start the lead for Frostburg.
More chances by Toni Fiocco-Mizer, Caroline Burton, Keely Knotts, and Alexis “Lexi” Pate kept competition alive with attempting more shots on West Liberty. Before the end of the first half, sophomore goalkeeper, Ashley Bilger, sent a long punt into sophomore Ashley Chew. Chew then passed the ball to Toni Fiocco-Mizer as she finished off the half with a second goal under the Bobcats.
In the second half, the intensity continued to grow with more shots from Hannah Thompson and Fiocco-Mizer as well as a few great saves from West Liberty’s keeper, Olivia Montgomery. Lexi Pate was able to finish off the game with a goal, giving Frostburg a total of three goals to West Liberty’s zero. Frostburg outshot West Liberty 20-4, having thirteen be on target compared to just two. Will Frostburg continue their winning streak this upcoming weekend game against Notre Dame? This is a semi-final rematch from the Spring season, back on the home stadium at noon.
