Dr. Greg Wood To Step Down As Honors Program Director
On May 4, 2020, FSU Honors Program Director Dr. Greg Wood announced that he would be stepping down from the position, effective May 22. He will continue to be on campus as a full-time History faculty member in the fall.
Dr. Wood has spent the last six years as Director of the Honors Program. “This was not an easy decision to make, but it seemed like the right time,” he says in a statement posted to the “Honors Frostburg” Facebook page. After his six years as Honors Director, Dr. Wood thanks his assistant, Mary Jane O’Rourke, as well as the program’s many student workers, both past and present.
The statement does not detail the reason for Dr. Wood’s resignation. When asked for comment, Dr. Wood said, “I always really, really loved that job, and I’m going to miss everyone that I got to work with everyday in that role.”
Dr. Kara Rogers Thomas, a Sociology department faculty member, has been named the new Director of the Honors Program. “Kara is not only a very popular professor, but she’s also a fantastic mentor to students and a very supportive colleague,” Wood says about his colleague.
The Bottom Line thanks Dr. Wood for his work as the program’s Director, and welcomes Dr. Rogers Thomas into the role!
