All Is Fair at the Org Fair
What better way to jump-start the semester than with a fair, and Frostburg State University (FSU) decided to have its own. When you think of a fair, you may think of fun games and exciting rides that appeal to thrill seekers. Well, in the collegiate world we opt for a different kind of fair, an org fair. What is an org fair? An org fair is similar to a job or college fair.
On Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2019 the university hosted its Student Involvement Fair. All of the university’s student organizations gathered together to spread knowledge to their peers. Hosted in the Lane University Center’s ARMAH, the fair invited students on campus to come and learn about the organizations that are based on the Frostburg campus. Each of the student organizations on FSU’s campus was able to reserve a table at the fair.
Doors to the fair opened to the students at 10 a.m., and students began to pour in. Tables filled the room with information about each organization. Not only were students able to gain information from the organizations, but some of the organizations were gracious enough to offer incentives to the students who decided to stop by their tables. The organization or student involvement fair does not only give the students the opportunity to learn about organizations. The fair also gives the organizations the opportunity to inform their peers of who they are, what they do, what they plan to accomplish on campus, how others can join, and, most importantly, how the organization helps students grow. Organizations like the FSU Chapter of National Council of Negro Women (NCNW), African Student Association (ASA), and the Black Student Alliance (BSA) were all in attendance at the fair. The Psychology Club, Paparazzi Perfect, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. were also all present at the event.
The Bottom Line would like to thank FSU for hosting such a great event and allowing its students the opportunity to get to know more about their peers and campus organizations. We hope to see more great events on campus soon. The Bottom Line staff would also like to welcome our readers back to campus and wish you all the best in the spring semester.
