Andrew Creelman Voted Swimmer of the Week / Women are Victorious Over Fairmont

Earlier this week on Monday February 22, it was announced that Frostburg State University’s (FSU) first-year swimmer Andrew Creelman was named ‘MEC Male Co-Swimmer of the week.’ Against Fairmont State University, Creelman earned two wins individually in the 100 yard and 200 yard butterfly, and a team win in the 400 yard freestyle relay. Also Creelman’s 200 yard butterfly time is ranked second this season at 2:00.91. Creelman has already shown great promise as a first-year athlete and should be a key piece in the Men’s team winning going forward.

The Frostburg Men’s swimming fell to Fairmont 137 -117. Highlights of the 14 events include Matt Costa-Shell’s win in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 58.31. Also, Qunicy Page took first place in the 100 yard freestyle in 53.72. In the 500 yard freestyle, Anthony Giuseppetti scored a time of 5:14.44 which gave him the win of that event. Noah Loper was the winner of the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:02.44.

The FSU Women’s swim team defeated Fairmont in a very close contest, winning 122-121. Aubree Morris was the first winner of the the FSU Women side, winning the 200 yard freestyle in 2:09.70. Cali Kobasiar took first place in the 100 yard breaststroke posting a time of 1:14.24. Perry Liz’s time 27.16 took first place in the 50 yard freestyle. Rayna Cicen came in first place in the 200 yard backstroke with a timing of 2:30.94. Summer Mastandrea won the 500 yard freestyle in 5:46.49. Finally, the team of Francesca Crevoiserat, Perry, Morris, and Mastandrea won the 400 yard freestyle relay. The bobcat women won 6 out of the 14 events with 6 out 14 swimmers having a first place score under their belt.

The Women’s swim team should have a lot of momentum going into their next meet where they and the Men’s team will take on Notre Dame (Ohio) in Ohio this week on Sunday the 28th.
