Blowout Victory Over Alderson Broaddus
On Saturday, Oct. 29th, the Frostburg State University (FSU) football team hosted the Alderson Broaddus Battlers. AB entered the game with a record of 0-8, FSU on the other hand was playing to get a two-game streak going.
From the start of the game, the Bobcats had control. The Battlers’ offense was on the field first, but to no avail. There was a quick three-and-out, and FSU was put in position for their offense to score. The Bobcats ended their first offensive drive with a field goal.
Broaddus did not get a chance to go three-and-out their next few possessions. After the Bobcats scored three, they fumbled on a third down giving Frostburg a scoring position once again. FSU took advantage and made the score 10-0. FSU decided to do an onside kick after the touchdown which was successful.
In the second quarter, Frostburg scored 20 points. The first touchdown was a pass from QB Graham Walker to WR Jordan Marcucci. The next was a 20-yard run by QB Kisaye Barnes. The final score of the second quarter by Frostburg was a 29-yard pass to RB Max Davis.
The second quarter is also where the Bobcat offense made their only mistake. Walker dropped back and threw a 48-yard interception putting points on the board for Broaddus.
An aspect of the Bobcats’ game that should not go unnoticed was the defense. According to the scoreboard, they did not make one mistake on the day. The Battlers punted eight times, lost two fumbles, and threw one interception.
After the one interception that was thrown by Walker, Frostburg cruised the rest of the game, scoring whenever they wanted to. WR Jermaine Earl caught a 24-yard pass, TE Bryant Evans had a 7-yard pass, and RB Justin Page had a 33-yard run. Each of these plays resulted in a touchdown for Frostburg.
The Bobcats won 58-7 and improved their record to 6-3. They head to West Virginia next week to play against West Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday at 1 PM.
