Bobcat Softball Goes 1 and 1 in Double-Header

The Bobcats softball team faced Dickson in a double header on Tuesday, March 26. The Bobcats were coming off of a two-game winning streak. Dickson had one win and one loss in their last two games.

The first game was very low scoring with the Bobcats winning 3-1. Frostburg scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning to grab the game from the Red Devils.

Dickinson scored their first and only run in the second inning of the game. First-year third baseman Amber Keene answered with a home-run getting the Bobcats on the board. In the top of the eight, senior infielder Olivia Ford brought home the second run of the game for the Bobcats after sophomore outfielder Claire Hanlon hit a single and advanced to second on the play. Hanlon stole third, and would then score the third run of the game off a sacrifice fly from sophomore infielder Taylor McCarty.

Hanlon had a major impact in the first game, recording a hit, a run scored, and an (RBI).Keene contributed with a hit, a run scored, and a RBI. Sophomore pitcher Emily Moll earned the win in the circle as she finished the game with one strike out and only allowing four hits. It was her third win of the season.
The second game of the double header was a hard-fought game throughout. The game ended with Dickson taking the win 1-0. The Red Devils scored the game’s only run in the fifth inning on an error in the Bobcat infield. Frostburg could not get on the board despite outhitting their opponents 5-3.

Keene finished the game with two hits. Junior pitcher Katelyn Mehrling allowed one run and had three strikeouts.

The Bobcats are now 10-8 on the season.
