Bobcats cruise to a 55-14 win over West Virginia

Frostburg State University (FSU) football played host to West Virginia Wesleyan this past Saturday.

Frostburg started off this game with a field goal early on by Dayne Koontz from 38 yards out making the score 3-0. West Virginia, later on in the quarter, would score a touchdown taking an early lead thanks to Devin Washington. After the first quarter, the Bobcats connected on another field goal which was made by Dayne Koontz from 36 yards out, cutting the lead to one point. West Virginia extended their lead thanks to a 9 yard pass from Jamir Boyd to Jujuan Linzy making it 14-6.

On the next drive, Frostburg would storm driving down the field, scoring on an 11 yard touchdown pass from Graham Walker to Malik Morris making the score now 14-13. Frostburg would get the ball back again later on to score a touchdown with under five minutes to go. Malcolm Facey ran into the endzone increasing FSU’s lead by 6. Frostburg tacked on one more touchdown before the half by a Graham Walker two yard run making it 27-14 at halftime.

After halftime, Frostburg continued to drive the ball down the field. Early on in the third, Gavin Lavat would score on a touchdown run which would extend the Frostburg lead to 20. Frostburg scored again just under a minute into the fourth quarter on a 3 yard run by Zae Giles making it a 41-14 game. Gavin Lavat scored another touchdown, making the bobcats lead 48-14. Frostburg would add one more touchdown by a run from Malcolm Facey which would be the final points of the game making it 55-14.

Frostburg dominated West Virginia 55-14. The Bobcats extended their record to 9-1. Gavin Lavat reached a mile stone in frostburg sports, becoming the all time leading rusher in FSU history after Saturday’s matchup. The Bobcats host West liberty at 7:00 pm this Thursday.
