Bobcats Dominate The Pembroke Braves

The Frostburg State University Bobcats played host to the University of North Carolina’s Pembroke Braves this past Saturday.

Frostburg started off strong in this game, with a 57 yard touchdown pass to senior Malik Morris to give the bobcats a 7-0 lead. Later on in the first quarter the Braves would drive the ball down the field and tie the game at 7 thanks to a 10 yard run by Joseph Early. With about 1 minute to go in the first, Gavin Lavat would run in for a 1 yard touchdown to make it 14-7. NCP drove the ball down the field again on their next drive to tie the game up at 14 thanks to a touchdown catch by Rodney Smith.

After the game was tied up at 14, Frostburg started to run away with the game. With under 3 minutes to go in the first half, Gavin Lavat connected with Zane Giles for a 31 yard touchdown pass making it 21-14. NCP would give the ball back to Frostburg before the end of the half. Frostburg scored a touchdown before the end of the half on a 11 yard pass from Walker to Belack to make it 28-14 at halftime. At the beginning of the third, we saw some defensive plays from the Bobcats. The Bobcats forced a safety to start the 3rd quarter making it 30-14. The Bobcats got the ball back and would score on a 57 yard touchdown pass from Graham Walker to Zae Giles making it 37-14. Later on in the 4th, the two would connect again on a 32 yard touchdown pass making it 44-14. Frostburg scored another touchdown before the end of the game making the final score 51-21.

The Frostburg offense totaled over 500 yards in this game including a career day by redshirt freshmen quarterback Graham Walker, passing for 279 yards and four touchdowns. This is also the first time since April that the bobcats put up 50 points. Frostburg improves to 5-0 as next week they’ll hit the road to go up against Notre Dame (OH).
