Bobcats Fall to Salisbury in Regular Season Finale
This past Saturday the Bobcat men’s basketball team hosted in-state rival Salisbury for the last regular season match-up. FSU ended the season falling 90-83 to the Seagulls.
The Bobcats came into the game with a competitive record of 10 wins and 14 losses.
FSU came into the game on a four game losing streak while the Seagulls came in with a 2-2 record.
A lot of faculty, family, and students came to support the men’s basketball team.
The Seagulls came out poised and set each other up with wide open threes and easy lay-ups. The Bobcats did not get off to a good start; they could not get shots to fall and had a few costly turnovers in the first half.
Going into the half, the Bobcats started to rally with junior guard Lawrence Pettis and teammate forward Daniel Alexander making a couple key offensive and defensive plays.
In the second half, the Bobcats offense came out strong, but defense continued to be a problem. Every time it became a two point game, the Seagulls would come back with a run of their own to regain the lead.
Pettis finished with 24 points and 4 assists. Alexander finished with 24 points and 8 rebounds. Junior Jordon Dawson also contributed with 12 points and 10 rebounds. The men’s team fought hard but ended finishing the season at 10-15.
The Bobcats will travel to Salisbury next Tuesday for an 8 p.m. tip-off in the first round of CAC tournament play.
