Bobcats Softball Drops 3 in North Carolina

The Bobcats softball team faced three teams this past week. FSU dropped all three.

In the first game against Chowan University, Frostburg took a crushing defeat 9-0. The second game against Queens University of Charlotte North Carolina, Frostburg would lose 10-2. The third game against Lees-McRae College, Frostburg would lose 4-1.

On Sunday, March 1st, the Bobcats would face the Hawks of Chowan University. The Hawks came out strong and never turned back as Chowan scored 9 runs in 5 innings. The second inning is where it opened up for the Hawks as they scored 4 total runs.  It was a struggle for the Bobcats to get anything going as they only had two hits in the game. Emily Talbert took home the loss as she allowed 5 runs as the Bobcats went on to lose 9-0.

On Saturday, March 7th, the Bobcats would have a doubleheader against Queens University of Charlotte and Lees-McRae College.

In the first game against Queens, it was competitive for the first two innings where the score was 2-1 with Queens leading at the end of the 3rd inning. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Queens put together an explosive five-run drive together, which would end the game as they would hold the Bobcats to only two runs scored for the rest of the game. Hanlon would have a hit and a run scored, Ramey had a hit and a walk and McCarty would take the loss after allowing four runs in as the Bobcats would lose 10-2.

In the second game of the doubleheader, the Bobcats would take on Lees -McRae. This would be a low scoring game throughout but Lees-McRae would take command scoring three runs by the 4th inning. The Bobcats would score in the top of the 4th inning but not score again. Lees-McRae would score one more run before winning the game 4-1. FSU would have six total hits in this game. Talbert would take home the loss as she allowed four runs earned.

The Frostburg softball team will be back in action on March 8th against Lees-McRae College.
