It was a beautiful evening to come out and enjoy Cuban and Latin American rhythms and melodies. Malamanya is a group of 6 talented gentlemen who joined together to celebrate and get you up on your feet whether you want to or not during every performance – the music lifts your soul. This event was open to the community bringing out the town of Frostburg to hear a new jam. The Clock Tower was filled with a nice crowd, young and old. Between the mini food selection and the good-spirited people, many people enjoyed a few dances with one another. Following the performance, there was a Question and Answer session where people got to learn just a little more than their music but from how they were all brought together to their own favorite selections of music that they jive to on their own.

This was a great kickoff to the year as lead vocalist Luis Ortega Castrellon said he was going to “paint the town of Frostburg red” because of the great energy and turnout that the crowd brought to their performance.

Bandleader Tony Schreiner shared his love for music and the love for a crowd by saying, “even though we can not see the crowd, we love to get people up on their feet and moving”.

Throughout the year CES, holds different events for the FSU campus community. The next event is an Elite Circus Artists and Acrobats of Cirque Mei on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall. Make sure to check out Malamanya on Apple Music or Youtube.
