Crime Line 10/2-10/11

10/2/17 Destruction of Property: Officers responded to the third floor men’s bathroom of the Ort Library for a reported destruction of property. Upon arrival, officers observed the first bathroom stall door inside the men’s bathroom was graffitied. The Facilities Department was notified to remove the graffiti.

10/2/17 Traffic Arrest: While on patrol, officers observed a 2004 Honda Civic, blue in color, traveling S/B on University Dr. at Susan Eisel Drive. The driver was using his hands to use a cell phone. As a result of the stop, the driver was issued a warning for driving while using a cell phone and a traffic citation for driving on a suspended license.

10/2/17 Drug Law Violation: While conducting patrol on College Ave. at Guild Lot, officers observed a vehicle traveling E/B on College Avenue. The driver was using his hands to use a cell phone. A traffic stop was conducted, and as a result, the driver was issued a traffic citation for driving on a suspended license and charged criminally for possession of CDS.

10/2/17 Fraud: FSU student reported she has been receiving text messages, KIK messages, Instagram, and Skype messages asking for money or her naked picture would be sent to her family and friends. Allegany County C3I unit was notified. The investigation is continuing.

10/2/17 Assist Other Agency: Officers responded to University Drive at Park Avenue, at the request of the Frostburg Police Department, to assist with a traffic stop. Upon arrival, it was learned that a Frostburg City Police officer detected the odor of marijuana emitting from a vehicle that he stopped for an equipment violation, resulting in a probable cause search being performed by police. The driver was issued a Maryland Safety Equipment Repair Order by Frostburg City Police, and the passenger received a citation for possession of CDS. A judicial board referral was submitted.

10/4/17 TIPS: Police were notified of a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the first floor of Cambridge Hall. Officers responded and determined the call to be unfounded.

10/4/17 Theft: FSU Band Director reported several band instruments were taken from the Performing Arts Center. The investigation is continuing.

10/4/17 Drug Law Violation: Officers were called to the fourth floor of Edgewood Commons to investigate a report of CDS. As a result of the investigation, two students were referred to the judicial board.

10/4/17 Drug Law Violation: Officer responded to the sixth floor of Frederick Hall to investigate a report of CDS activity. As a result of the investigation, a judicial board referral was submitted

10/6/17 Drug Law Violation: Officers responded to Cumberland Hall for a report of CDS. As a result of the investigation, a judicial board referral was submitted.

10/6/17 Assist Other Agency: Officers responded to Bowery St. to assist Frostburg City Police with a robbery. The investigation is being handled by Frostburg City Police and the C3I Unit.

10/6/17 Information: A Bottom Line staff member reported he delivered the new addition of The Bottom Line newspapers to the newsstand in Compton Hall and later discovered the newspapers were gone. Officers reviewed the security footage and observed the staff member arrive and enter Compton Hall with a stack of newspapers. The investigation is continuing.

10/6/17 Crime Prevention: While conducting a crosswalk traffic detail on University Drive, officers observed a white Chevy Cruze with black hub caps that matched a vehicle description from a traffic complaint made earlier in the week. Officers followed the vehicle to where it parked in Annapolis Lot and made contact with the driver who was informed to slow down and yield to pedestrians.

10/6/17 Knock & Talk: Officers spoke with the residents of a Bowery Sreet, Ext., residence about noise violations.

10/7/17 Assist Other Agency: Officers responded to Bowery Street, Ext., to assist Frostburg City Police with a fight in progress. Upon arrival, officers did not observe a fight in progress, and no assault victims came forward to any of the numerous units on the scene. Officers stood by until guests dispersed their residences.

10/7/17 Assist Other Agency: Officers responded to Bowery St. to assist Frostburg City Police with a disturbance. Officers stood by while Frostburg City Police conducted their investigation.

10/7/17 Assist Other Agency: Officers assisted the Frostburg City Police with a noise complaint on Paul Street.

10/7/17 Knock & Talk: Officers spoke with several subjects at Charles & Wood Street about underage drinking and possession of alcohol.

10/7/17 TIPS: Caller reported a noise complaint on Center Street. Upon arrival, officers determined the complaint to be unfounded.

10/7/17 Assist Other Agency: Frostburg City Police requested assistance in disseminating information to the campus community regarding two recent burglaries that occurred in the off-campus student housing area. A BURG alert was sent out regarding the incident.

10/8/17 Knock & Talk: Officers spoke with residents on 139 Bowery and Maple Streets about underage drinking and public urination. In addition, officers observed 70 to 80 students standing in the roadway on Bowery Street and spoke with them about drinking and not standing in the road.

10/8/17 Traffic Arrest: A traffic stop was conducted on Wood Street. The investigation revealed the driver did not have a valid driver’s license. The driver was issued a warning ticket and two traffic citations.

10/8/17 Assist Other Agency: Officers observed three males and one female subject walking on Bowery St. towards Mill St. with two of the males carrying signs from a local business. Contact was made with the subjects and Frostburg City Police responded. Frostburg City Police placed the two subjects under arrest and transported them to Frostburg City Police headquarters.

10/8/17 Assist Other Agency: Officers responded to Maple Street to assist the Frostburg Police Department with a breaking and entering/burglary in-progress call.

10/8/17 Assist Other Agency: Officers responded to College Avenue to assist Frostburg City Police with a large party and noise complaint. Officers provided assistance with clearing the party. Everyone left without incident.

10/8/17 Assist Other Agency: Officers responded to the intersection of Main and Center Streets to assist the Frostburg City Police with traffic control regarding a structure fire.
