12/04/2019 CDS- Officers responded to Westminster Hall for an odor of marijuana. As a result of the investigation four students were referred to the judicial board.
12/04/2019 Extortion An FSU student came into Headquarters to report being extorted for money online on an app called HUD. The subject advised after meeting another person through an online app, he sent personal information as well as a personal picture to the subject. The recipient then advised to send money or the personal information and picture would be broadcast over social media. Officers advised the complainant to notify the other party that he had contacted the police, and not to sending any money. An incident number and a MD Crime Victims and Witnesses pamphlet were provided to the complainant and he was advised to be careful and vigilant when communicating with strangers on social media. The complainant was advised to contact police if the person continued to attempt to extort him or harass him.
12/04/2019 CDS- Officers were dispatched to the first floor of Simpson Hall for a report of the odor of marijuana. Upon arrival a foot patrol was conducted but the source of the odor could not be determined.
12/05/2019 Traffic Accident – Officers responded to the P.E. Center Lot for a motor vehicle collision. The complainant advised he struck a parked vehicle. There were no injuries. A motor vehicle collision information exchange form was completed and provided to both parties.
12/05/2019 Noise Complaint Subject contacted Headquarters to report loud stomping above him at CCIT. Contact was made with the students dancing in the building causing a disturbance to others. They were advised to stop and complied.
12/06/2019 Assist Other Agency (FPD) – Officers assisted FPD in contacting a subject at Edgewood Commons.
12/06/2019 Harassment – A female student came into headquarters to speak with an officer regarding being harassed continuously by an ex-partner through social media. The subject was given a Victim’s Rights pamphlet and was provided with an address of the District Court along with instructions on how to obtain a peace order if she desired. The Title IX Office was notified. The ex-partner is not an FSU student.
12/06/2019 Traffic Arrest – While patrolling in a marked police vehicle, Officers observed a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta traveling west on E. College Avenue with no rear lights illuminated. A traffic stop was initiated in the Annapolis Lot. A Maryland Learner’s instructional Permit was presented by the driver. As a result of the stop a written warning was issued.
12/07/2019 Animal Complaint – A female called report a fox between Pullen and PAC which looked like it is having a seizure. Officers put the injured fox down. The animal was disposed of in a safe manner. DNR did not want the animal for further testing.
12/08/2019 Traffic Arrest – A traffic stop was initiated in Annapolis Lot after observing the vehicle exceeding the posted speed. The driver displayed a Maryland learner’s permit and did not have anyone in the vehicle that was 21 years of age. The subject was issued a written warning for exceeding the maximum speed limit and a traffic citation for having a learner’s permit and driving a motor vehicle without the required supervision. The car was driven from the scene by a licensed driver.
12/08/2019 Noise Complaint – Officers responded to Frederick Hall for a complaint of loud noise. Upon arrival, officers heard loud talking. Subjects were identified and were requested to lower their voices when they spoke and to close their exterior door.
12/09/2019 CDS – An anonymous female caller advised of two (2) males in the bathroom smoking marijuana. As a result of the investigation two students were referred to the judicial board.
12/09/2019 CDS – Officers responded to Sowers Hall for a complaint of an odor of marijuana. A foot patrol was conducted of the second floor but officers were unable to determine the source of the odor.
12/09/2019 CDS – Officers were dispatched to the second floor of Simpson Hall for an odor of CDS. As officers entered the area, immediately an odor was detected. Due to the odor of the CDS throughout the entire second floor and stairwell, it was impossible to determine a source of the odor.
12/10/2019 CDS – While conducting traffic enforcement on University Drive officers observed a male subject, non-student, on a dirt bike. Contact was made with the subject who was identified as a juvenile he was also found to be in possession of CDS. The investigation has been forwarded to DJS.
12/10/2019 Suspicious – While on routine marked patrol, sitting stationary at the entrance to the Appalachian Laboratory, Officers observed a vehicle enter the parking lot to the Appalachian Laboratory, circle the lot, and then turn around and exit. This seemed suspicious as it was after typical working hours for laboratory employees. The vehicle was followed as it turned onto University Drive and proceeded into the lower dormitory area and then near State Street Lot. As the vehicle made its way back to University Drive a traffic stop was initiated. The driver advised he was lost. After a check of the subject came back clear, Officers escorted the subject to the interstate.
12/10/2019 Alarm – Officers responded to Appalachian Lab for an Unauthorized entry. Upon arrival, a walk through was performed which resulted in locating employees still in the building.
