Crime Line 3/29-4/3
3/29/19 Suspicious: Officers patrolling the Gunter parking lot observed a black Jeep parked with its engine running; the operator was leaned back in the driver’s seat. The operator was found to be alert. He was waiting for his class to begin and was passing the time by watching videos on his phone. No further assistance needed.
3/29/18 Request for Officer: Officers were dispatched to the CCIT building for a complaint of students in the building, which was closed. Officers conducted a foot patrol of the building and made contact with numerous individuals throughout the building. All were advised of the building closing time and rules, and were directed to the 24/7 lab or were asked to leave the building.
3/29/18 Information: University Police received an email from a former student. The email indicated that an FSU student may have stolen $215 from him related to the purchase of an iPhone. The purchase was made about a week ago and has not received the phone. Officers made contact with the last known number of the former student, who advised he didn’t send the email. He stated that was his email address but denied any involvement. He advised he wasn’t the victim of anything. The investigation is continuing.
3/30/18 Request for Officer: Officers responded to the area of the S.E.R.F. building on Technology Drive to check on the well-being of a person, possibly in distress. According to the complainant, possible screaming could be heard in the area. Upon arrival, officers checked the entire area, on foot and in vehicle, but were unable to locate anyone in distress or in need of assistance. The only noticeable noise was the windmill next to the S.E.R.F. Building.
3/30/18 Assist Other Agency: Officers traveling on E. Main Street observed a visual fire alarm activation within Mt. Ridge High School. Frostburg City Police arrived on the scene. Fire departments responded to the school and conducted an investigation. All police units cleared shortly thereafter.
3/31/19 Telephone Misuse: FSU student reported he was getting text messages about someone threatening his family’s welfare. The phone numbers when called back were all “disconnected.” Officers advised the student this is more than likely a scam that will result in a suspect at some point requesting monetary funds. Student later reported text messages stopped.
4/1/18 Assist Other Agency: Officers responded to High Street, Frostburg, to assist the Frostburg City Police with a call of a disturbance in progress with an individual who advised he had a gun. Once on-scene, officers provided back-up. It was determined no weapon was present, and the incident was a verbal disturbance.
4/2/18 Traffic Arrest: Officers observed a blue 2006 Ford Escape exit the Edgewood Commons Apartment complex and proceed south on University Drive with no front or rear lights illuminated. As a result of the investigation, the driver was issued a citation for failure of vehicle on highway to display lighted lamps in unfavorable visibility conditions and for driving without a license. A judicial board referral was also submitted.
4/2/18 Drug Law Violation: Officers were dispatched to the first floor of Cumberland Hall for a CDS complaint. As a result of the investigation, a judicial board referral was submitted.
4/2/18 Assist Other Agency: At the request of the Frostburg Police Department, officers responded to the Frostburg City Police Headquarters to assist with a prisoner. Subject was not an FSU student.
4/3/18 Request for Officer: Officers were dispatched to the first floor of Cumberland Hall regarding an anonymous complaint of the odor of something burning. Officers detected a burning odor emitting from a resident’s door and discovered a burning candle. Resident was advised of the fire and safety policies.
