Crime Line 4/23 – 4/28
4/23/15 Information: FSU professor reported she overheard some students talking about other students stabbing people in fights. The investigation revealed that the conversation was misunderstood and there was never any danger.
4/23/15 Alarm: Officers were dispatched to the Appalachian Lab, 301 Braddock Rd., for a report of unauthorized entry alarm activation. The alarm was caused by a door propped open.
4/14/15 Assist Other Agency: Officers responded to Welsh Hill apartments for a noise complaint. Caller reported noise coming from below her apartment. Frostburg City Police were notified.
4/24/15 Drug Law Violation: Officers were dispatched to Sowers Hall for a report of the odor of burnt marijuana. Officers were unable to determine the source.
4/24/15 Noise Complaint: Officers were dispatched to Cambridge Hall for a report of a noise complaint. As a result of the investigation a Judicial Board referral was submitted.
4/24/15 Assist Other Agency: Frostburg City Police requested assistance with a complaint of a large party at Bowery and Oak St., Frostburg. Upon arrival, officers were unable to locate a large party in this area.
4/25/15 Assist Other Agency: Officers were dispatched to Center St., Frostburg, for a noise complaint. Frostburg City Police were notified to respond. Frostburg City officers arrived on the scene and issued a civil citation for noise violation under the city ordinance.
4/25/15 Tampering With Fire Equipment: Officers were dispatched to Westminster Hall for a report of a fire extinguisher that had been tampered with. Officers were unable to identify any suspects in this case.
4/22/15 Request For Officer: FSU employee reported a traffic accident in the Chesapeake parking lot. The caller advised a tan SUV backed into a gray truck. No further information was available. Officers responded to the area and found the parties to be gone on arrival.
4/22/15 Alarm: Officers responded to the Appalachian Lab, 301 Braddock Rd., for an alarm reporting unauthorized entry into the building. Upon arrival, officers found one of the exterior doors ajar. No further action needed.
4/22/15 Assist Other Agency: Frostburg City police requested officers met with them at Simpson Hall to speak with a student in regards to an investigation. Officers stood by while FCP spoke with the student.
4/23/15 TIPS: Caller reported a suspicious person around the female showers in Annapolis Hall. Upon arrival, officers met with several people in the area who were asked if they had seen anything suspicious going on around the female shower room, and they advised there have been no problems tonight. The complaint was unfounded.
4/23/15 Assist Other Agency: Caller reported her roommate brought home several intoxicated persons and she does not want them in her apartment. She advised she resides at Bobcat Court on Water St., Frostburg, and asked to have them removed from the property. Frostburg City Police were notified to respond.
4/25/15 Assist Other Agency: Officers responded to Spring St., Frostburg, to assist Frostburg City Police with a large party. Upon arrival, Frostburg City Police were on the scene and FSUPD officers assist them with crowd control as the party dispersed.
4/26/15 Request For Officer: Officers responded to the lower quad area for a request for officer. The complainant, who wished to remain anonymous, advised police dispatch that she could hear a woman’s voice in the area between Frederick Hall and Cumberland Hall, yelling “stop, I don’t like that”. Officers did a canvass of the area with negative results. Officers also checked the State Street parking lot with negative results as well. Officers had dispatch try to contact the complainant again, but the complainant did not answer her phone.
4/26/15 Request For Officer: Officers were dispatched to Frost Hall for a request for officer. Upon arrival, officers met with the complainant/Resident Assistant, who advised that during a routine fire inspection of the dorm rooms, they located one empty bottle of Fireball Cinnamon Whisky and a bottle of Southern Comfort containing approximately 1.5 oz. of alcohol. Officers confiscated the alcohol and properly disposed of it. Judicial Board Referral submitted.
4/27/15 Request Officer: Police received a report of five female subjects walking around the clock tower. The caller advised they were worried something might be wrong with the female subjects. Upon arrival, officers observed 5 female subjects in the area and made contact with them. All of the subjects advised everything was fine, no police action taken.
4/27/15 Drug Law Violation: Officers responded to Frederick Hall in reference to a check-on-well-being in response to a call from a concerned parent. Officers immediately observed marijuana and paraphernalia in plain view on a desk. A civil citation for possession of marijuana less than 10 grams was issued. And a student was referred to the Judicial Board.
4/27/15 Alarm: Officers were dispatched to Chesapeake Hall for a report of fire alarm activation. Upon arrival, officers made contact with Chartwell’s employees, who advised that the alarm was activated near the stir-fry station while cooking. No injuries reported. No further action taken.
4/27/15 Traffic Arrest: Officers were dispatched to the Upper Practice Field for a report of a vehicle driving on the practice football fields, possibly causing damage. No damage was incurred however the driver’s license was currently suspended. Officers then issued a Maryland Uniform Traffic Citation for Driving on suspended license and privilege. Judicial Board referral submitted.
4/27/15 Drug Law Violation: Westminster Hall Resident Assistant reported that while he was conducting a fire inspection he observed a smoking device in plain view. Judicial Board Referral submitted.
4/28/15 Notification: FSU employee reported a woman was asleep in a white SUV with the motor running, in the Frampton Lot parking lot. Officers responded to the area and patrolled Frampton and neighboring lots and were unable to locate the vehicle.
4/28/15 Theft: An off-campus student reported his silver iphone6 was taken from his classroom at the Guild Center. The investigation is continuing.
4/28/15 Fire Alarm: Officers were dispatched to Cumberland Hall for a report of fire alarm activation. Allegany County Communications (911) notified that the alarm was coming from the basement/first floor. A malfunctioning detector was disabled, allowing the alarm to be reset. All fire departments cleared the scene. Resident Director and Facilities notified.
