Crime Line 9/9 – 9/15
9/9/15 Traffic Arrest: Officers conducted a traffic stop on Bowery St., Frostburg, after observing the driver of a black Honda not being restrained by his seat belt. Officers then issued two traffic citations to the driver, driving on suspended license and seat belt violation.
9/9/15 Suspicious: A suspicious vehicle was reported at the Beall Elementary school, E. College Ave., Frostburg. Upon arrival, officers checked the area and found everything was alright in the area.
9/9/15 Hit & Run: Officers responded to the College Avenue parking lot for a hit & run complaint. Photographs of the damage were taken. Victim was provided with a business card, indicating an incident report number for insurance purposes.
9/9/15 Harassment: A FSU student reported being harassed on the internet. Later, the victim reported the male subject had deleted the photograph from his Instagram account and advised that she no longer wishes to pursue an investigation and does not wish officers contact the male juvenile or his parents since he did delete the photograph. No further police action taken.
9/9/15 Notification: FSU contractual bus driver reported a traffic accident involving the university’s motor coach in Ashburn, Virginia. The driver reported the incident to local police who arrived on the scene, there were no injuries.
9/9/15 Check on Well Being: A Frederick Hall parent requested officers attempt to make contact with her son. She advised she had not heard from her son since Monday 9-7-15, and that she was worried. Contact was made with the student who advised he would contact with his mother.
9/9/15 Drug Law Violation: Cambridge Hall Resident Assistant reported the odor of marijuana on the 1st floor lounge area. The quad areas was checked, officers were unable to determine where the odor was coming from. Officers advised the RA to contact FSUPD if there are any more problems.
9/9/15 Check on Well Being: A Frost Hall parent contacted the police requesting an officer check on her daughter. Officers responded to Frost Hall and made contact with the student in her room. She was advised to call her mother.
9/10/15 Notification/Assist Other Agency: Officers assisted the Frostburg Fire Department for a tree limb down in the roadway of 7 American Avenue. No injuries were reported. Tree limb was collected and removed without incident.
9/10/15 Knock & Talk: Officers conducted knock and talks with students on Bowery St. Frostburg.
9/11/15 Breaking & Entering: Officers responded to Simpson Hall, for a reported burglary. Upon arrival, officers met with the resident who advised that she was asleep in her dorm room, she advised she awoke to find an unknown male standing next to her bed. She advised and her dorm room was pitch black, so she grabbed her cell phone so she could shine a light on the male. By this time he had gone toward the door and she shined the light on the male as he stood near the door. He stood by the door briefly before exiting her room. Further another Simpson Hall resident said that an unknown male had walked into her room as well. Officers spoke that resident who advised she was sitting in her room when an unknown male walked into her room. She advised she asked him can I help you and he just looked at her and left. A check of the interior building was conducted. Officers checked the exterior and found all the exterior doors secure but were unable to locate the suspect. Investigation continuing. Students are reminded to keep the dorm rooms locked.
9/11/15 Public Urination: Officers patrolling Bowery St., Frostburg observed a male subject urinating behind a bush in front of a Bowery Street residence. The male subject was identified and then issued a civil citation for public urination.
9/11/15 Harassment: Female walked into UPD to report a harassment incident which occurred the previous evening. While she was walking in the area of Stoyer St., a tan colored truck pulled up with 5 white males in the vehicle-no further descriptions. Female advised at first she thought the males were waving at her. She waved back, and then realized they were not waving at her but displaying to her their middle fingers and repeatedly yelling obscenities. Three of the five males jumped out of the vehicle and approached the young lady at which time she took off running. The men continued yelling at her as she ran away. The female could only give a vague description of the alleged perpetrators. Due to the location of the incident FPD was contacted and is the primary investigating agency. Investigation continuing.
9/11/15 MV Accident: Officers responded to Frampton Lot to investigate a single vehicle accident.
9/11/15 Alcohol Violation: Officers responded to Edgewood Commons for a report of an underage drinking party. The investigation lead to 5 underage alcohol citations and 1 citation for furnishing alcohol to persons under the age 21.
9/12/15 CDS: Officers responded to a CDS complaint involving two males smoking marijuana outside Westminster Hall on a bench. Subjects were issued civil citations for possession of marijuana less than 10g, judicial referral submitted.
9/13/15 Assist other Agency: Frostburg City Police requested our agency’s assistance dispersing a large crowd in the area of College Ave and Bowery St. Officers arrived on-scene shortly thereafter. There were an estimated 200 people in the area. Officers parked patrol vehicles on the roadway with patrol lights illuminated so traffic passing through would travel slowly-as there were several people walking through the streets. Officers asked several individuals to step onto the sidewalks, all individuals complied with orders. Crowd dispersed without incident.
9/13/15 MV Theft: An officer was flagged down by a Frostburg City Police Officer (FPD) on Braddock Rd. just prior to the Frostburg State University entrance. FPD was talking with an older male, who was identified as the subject who made discovery of a Bobcat skid steer. The Bobcat was positively identified as belonging to FSU via an ID tag inside the cab. Investigation continues.
9/15/15 Drug Law Violation: Officers were dispatched to the P.E. parking lot in reference to an assist motorist. Upon arrival, contact was made with the registered owner, a FSU student, who advised he locked his keys in his black Mazda passenger vehicle. After several minutes, officers were able to get vehicle unlocked. As the driver was opening his door, officers observed in plain view marijuana “shake” lying on the passenger floorboard. The driver was issued a civil citation for possession of marijuana under 10 grams. Judicial Board referral submitted.
