Crime Lines 02/08/2022 – 02/14/2022

02/08/2022 Request for Officer – Officers responded to Brownsville Hall for an intoxicated subject attempt to gain entry into rooms. Upon arrival contact was with the complaints who advised the suspect had walked inside a room, removed his shoes until he was persuaded to leave. Contact was then made with the suspect who had made it back to his room and was trying to go to bed. The suspect admitted he had entered the wrong room and did not mean to. Judicial Board referral submitted.

02/09/2022 Fraud – Officers were contacted at Headquarters by a subject in reference to a fraud complaint involving gift cards. The subject was involved in a scam after receiving a phone call from what he believed was an Amazon representative regarding fraudulent charges. The subject ultimately purchased gift cards and provided the caller with the numbers on the gift cards.

02/09/2022 Narcotics Complaint – Officers responded to Westminster Hall for a CDS odor complaint. After a walk-through of the area in question, officers were unable to determine the source of the odor.

02/10/2022 Damage to Property – FSUPD was contacted by an FSU student via email to advise her vehicle door blew open and struck another vehicle. Ocularis Camera System was reviewed, and it appeared the door blew open into a legally parked dark colored SUV passenger side door. At this time, there is no further information available to locate the SUV passenger vehicle.

02/10/2022 Narcotics Complainant – Officers responded to Westminster Hall for an odor of CDS. Upon arrival there was a strong odor throughout the quad and strongest in the shared bathroom. Residents were advised there is no smoking in the building. Referral was made to the judicial board.

02/11/2022 Assist Other Agency (FPD) – Officers responded to the dog park to assist FPD in searching a vehicle. FSUPD secured the scene while FPD conducted a search of a vehicle that resulted in several items of paraphernalia inside the vehicle related to crack cocaine. One non-student was taken into custody by FPD.

02/11/2022 CDS – Officers responded to Brownsville for student who had found property in the trash room that contained CDS. Officers took possession of the items and transported them back to headquarters for processing and then into evidence for destruction. A review of the Ocularis camera system was conducted. Officers were unable to locate anyone taking the items in question into the trash room.

02/11/2022 Request for Officer – Contact was made with a student who contacted headquarters claiming to be getting harassed. The incident happened in Laurel Maryland. The complaint was advised to contact her local police department. She was also advised to go into her local courthouse to the Commissioner’s office and file for a protective order if she felt she is in danger of any harm by anyone.

02/11/2022 Assist Other Agency (FPD) – FSUPD assisted FPD after they had received a check on well-being from a FSU student’s sister. She advised she received a distress signal form the female in question. After making contact with the subject at Edgewood Commons, she indicated her phone was malfunctioning and confirmed she was okay and not in distress.

02/11/2022 Narcotics Complaint – Officers responded to Westminster Hall for an odor of CDS. Contact was made with the residents of the room in question who eventually stated she had smoked marijuana elsewhere and then came back into her room.

02/12/2022 Assist Other Agency – A male subject advised to FSUPD officers that he and his friend were walking at Broadway and College, beside the elementary school, and a dark, pickup truck drove by and shot at him three times with a BB Gun, hitting him once in the left arm. FPD was notified. Ocularis cameras were checked in the area of College Avenue and the portion of the elementary school on the University side; no suspect vehicles were found for the time frame that matched the description. Suspects who are not students were later identified and charged by Cumberland City for destructions of property which occurred there.

02/12/2022 Narcotics Complaint – Officers were dispatched to Cumberland Hall for a report of an odor of marijuana. Upon arrival, officers were able to detect a strong odor of burnt marijuana in the first-floor West wing hallway. A foot patrol was conducted of the West wing and was unable to locate the source of the odor.

02/13/2022 Narcotics Complaint – Officers were dispatched to Westminster Hall for a report of an odor of marijuana. The odor was emitting from a room in question. Contact was made with the male FSU student who advised he had been smoking marijuana and did not have any left. Officers could see the smoke detector was covered with a plastic bag. Judicial Board referral submitted.

02/13/2022 Narcotics Complaint – Officers were dispatched to a student housing facility on campus for a possible drug transaction observation. Case remains open at this time.

Summary period includes 114 calls for service and 6 traffic stops.
