Crime Lines 03/07/2023 – 03/13/2023

03/07/2023 DOP – Misdemeanor – An FSU Groundskeeper reported damage to a grassy area adjacent to Chesapeake Hall. A vehicle left a rut in the space. The groundskeeper provided the officers with photographs of the damaged area, photos of the suspect’s vehicle, and an FSU student parking permit. Video surveillance footage from “Ext Frederick Hall Lower Quad” observed the black SUV park in the area next to Chesapeake Hall however it should be noted that on the video surveillance, there appeared to be damage to the grassy surface next to the parking pad prior to the black SUV entering the area. Contact was made with the driver who advised he parked his vehicle in that parking space but wasn’t sure if he was in the mud, so he moved his vehicle. However, he also stated there was damage prior to him parking there. Officers advised that a Judicial Board Referral would be sent.

03/08/2023 Suspicious – While on patrol, officers observed a subject in a suspicious vehicle parked in the parking lot of CARI. Contact was made with the sleeping subject who was identified as a professor at FSU.

03/10/2023 Assist Other Agency (FPD) – FSUPD assisted FPD by standing by while they conducted a traffic stop on Maple at Mechanic Street.

03/10/2023 Assist Other Agency (FPD) – FSUPD assisted FPD with attempting to locate a male causing a disturbance on Maple Street. Subject was GOA.

03/10/2023 Traffic Accident – Officers responded to Annapolis Lot for a traffic accident, no injuries. An Information Exchange was completed for both parties. One vehicle was towed by Barton’s Towing at owner’s request.

03/11/2023 Suspicious – While on patrol, officers observed an open door on the FSU charter bus. Officers checked the bus and did not locate anything suspicious inside. It was determined to be a faulty door latch on the door which allowed the strong winds in the area to open it. Officers attempted to re-secure the door before clearing.

03/11/2023 Assist Other Agency (FPD) – Officers were dispatched to Wood Street for a male subject seated on the ground yelling. Officers were able to make contact with the individual who was heavily intoxicated and bleeding from each of his knees down to his ankles. EMS was requested. The subject was transported to UPMC for and emergency petition due to the subject presenting to be a danger to himself. The subject is not an FSU student.

03/11/2023 Hit & Run – Officers responded to State Street Lot for damage to a vehicle. The FSU student advised she had front right passenger damage. Occularis cameras were checked, and the suspect’s vehicle is

seen driving ‘donuts’ in the parking lot East end (near Broadway) and appears to lose control and proceeds to slide into the complaint’s vehicle. Officers located the suspect vehicle and observed damage on the vehicle consistent with the impact. After attempting to make contact with the student in question, a message was left, and he later contacted FSUPD admitting to striking the complainants vehicle. Officers completed the Insurance Information Exchange for both parties. Officers cited the suspect and submitted a judicial board referral.

03/13/2023 Request for Officer/Emergency Petition – Officers responded to Compton Hall for a possible change in mental status. Upon their arrival, officers made contact with the female FSU student who spoke to them in a confused state. EMS was requested and the FSU student was transported to UPMC for an emergency petition.

03/13/2023 Assist Other Agency – FSUPD was contacted by Towson State University Police advising they received a warning email from a student email account alleging that an active shooter would be on the campus of Towson State on this date. Investigation is continuing into the individuals that are involved with the assistance of FSU IT.

Summary period includes 111 calls for service and 14 traffic stops
