Crime Lines 10/18/2022 – 10/24/2022
10/18/2022 Request for Officer – Housekeeping notified headquarters to advise of a missing computer monitor and keyboard in a room in Old Main. FSU IT services was contacted, and they stated that the room was being emptied out since it is not being used. No theft occurred in this incident.
10/19/2022 Fraud – A FSU student came into Headquarters to advise he had been a victim of a scam involving gift cards. After speaking with the subject, he was provided with a Maryland’s Victim’s Rights Pamphlet and was advised to monitor his accounts and credit score in the event something was opened in his name. The student is attempting to recoup some of his money.
10/19/2022 CDS – Officers responded to Brownsville Hall for an odor of marijuana. Upon arrival, the odor was very strong around the room in question. Contact was made with four (4) individuals in the room. One individual was attempting to spray Febreze out the door, incense was burning on the bedpost, a haze was at the ceiling level, and a towel was shoved under the door. Marijuana was seized and placed in temporary evidence. All subjects admitted to smoking in the room and they were advised the incident would be forwarded to the Judicial Board. The students were also advised of the fire and safety hazards with the candle and incense.
10/20/2022 Check on Well Being – FPD requested assistance due to being unavailable on another call. A check on well-being was requested of the complainant’s brother who is 16 years of age. She advised he was allegedly being threatened. Contact was made with the individual who appeared to be ok and did not appear to be in distress or nervous. There were no other individuals in the home.
10/20/2022 Hit & Run – A female came into Headquarters to speak to officers about a hit and run that occurred in the Center Street Lot. She advised her vehicle was hit in the passenger side rear bumper area. Officers reviewed the Oculars Camera System which revealed another vehicle pulling into the space beside the victim’s vehicle, striking the bumper. Officers checked the area for the suspect vehicle. Investigation is still open.
10/20/2022 Check on Well Being – While working at the football game, officers were made aware of a vehicle left running with two children unattended in the backseat of the vehicle. The parent/owner was located after an announcement was made over the stadium speaker. The parent reported that her daughter was not feeling well and wanted to keep her out of the cold air. She was made aware of MD law regarding children being unattended in the vehicle. As the children were safe and cared for, she was given a verbal warning for the violation and remained with her children in the car until she left the area.
10/20/2022 Assist Other Agency (FPD) – Officers responded to Bowery Street to assist FPD with a noise complaint. Officers did not detect any noise coming from the residence and did not observe any individuals inside/outside the residence.
10/21/2022 Assist Other Agency (FPD) – FPD requested assistance on Centennial Street with a check on well-being involving an intoxicated male. FSUPD officers stood by while FPD conducted their investigation.
10/21/2022 Assist Other Agency (FPD) – Officers responded to South Grant Street to assist FPD with traffic control due to a vehicle accident at that location.
10/22/2022 Request for Officer – Officers were dispatched to Bobcat Stadium initially for traffic control. Upon arrival, officers were made aware of a few fans in the bleachers that were acting in an unsportsmanlike manner. The individuals had been advised of their behavior once and now police presence was requested for the remainder of the soccer game. The fans in question did not cause any further issues. Non-FSU students.
10/24/2022 911 Hang Up – County Dispatch reporting a hang up call from Office of Civic Engagement. FSU Dispatch made contact with the office who reported misdialing long distance.
