Curtin and Shehade Earn MEC Awards
Frostburg State’s women’s soccer team finished their first season in the Mountain East Conference with a loss to Fairmount State on Saturday, Nov. 9th.
Two of the Bobcat’s offensive players received MEC honors for their stellar performances on the field this past season.
Sophomore forward Audra Curtin earned an All-MEC honorable mention accolade. She scored nine goals and had nine assists, giving her a total of 23 points. She finished 8th in points in the conference and 2nd in points for Frostburg. She finished 2nd in every offensive category for the Bobcats. Curtin had a career performance against Wheeling University with two goals and two assists for six points. She was one of seven players to see action in all 18 games with 14 starts.
Senior forward Brooke Shehade received All-MEC first-team honors. She received MEC Offensive Player of the Week honors twice throughout the season. Shehade scored a hat trick against Urbana, had 4 games where she scored multiple goals and had 4 game-winning goals. She had a career-high performance against Urbana with three goals and two assists for eight points. To end the season, Shehade finished with 14 goals, eight assists and had a total of 36 points. She ended being 3rd in the conference in points and 1st for the Bobcats. She had 92 total shots with 43 shots on goal which are both 2nd in the conference. Shehade finished her 4-year career with a total of 34 goals.
The Bobcats finished fifth in their first season of Division II competition and hope to climb the standings in future seasons.
