Food for Thought: Black History Month

Say It Loud:

The revolution will be live
Televised for the world to see

Maybe then they will feel sweat
That set upon my back.

Casually you will see that we always make history,
From the beginning of time until the end.

I guess I’m really just spitting in rhyme
My history is black history.

Their story is my story, follow me through the pain.
Come see those that were slain.

Blood of martyrs, tears of the enslaved
Fall down like tsunami waves.

Sometimes I breathe in the side eye air,
I try to ignore the subhuman stare.

My history is black history, yours, theirs
All relate to black history.

One month is what we were given but hey
We still livin.

The souls of us black folk run deep,
Yeah, we keep fighting from dusk to morning sun, then pass the torch for the next to run.

Afro American, African American, Black
We all here in America, trying to make a livin.

I say it loud, I’m black and I’m proud.

Black Panther:

Move with stealth, through trees
Wind to his face.

Rain drops that cut like diamond
Bullets gets repelled, under his aura.

Draped in all black.
The silver pieces, remind you of light against night

He catches all prey, man or beast,
He is feared by all, the ability to make you freeze.

In fright, out of sight, because of the road.
The king sees all.

His country to rule, his people to protect
Draped in all black, he has our respect.
