Bobcat Football’s Downward Spiral Continues

The Frostburg State University football team’s downward spiral continued this week, after a blowout lost to Brockport. The Brockport defense completely shut out the Bobcats offense. The team didn’t score a single touchdown leading to 46-0 score.

The Bobcats offense struggled all game. The team’s rushing attack only totaled 92 yards even though 7 different players had a chance running the ball. Quarterback Ken Emmons completed only 3 of his 13 pass attempts for a total of 21 yards. Over the last two games Emmons has struggled finding his target. Last game he only completed 8 of 23 pass attempts. Also he has thrown 3 interceptions over the past two games.

Defensively, the Bobcats struggled just as bad as its offense did. They allowed a total of 483 yards that was spread evenly between Brockport’s passing and rushing attack. Brockport quarterback Chase Ventuo completed only 15 passes, but from the 15 completions he tallied up a massive total of 254 yards. He finished the day with 3 touchdowns as well. All three of Brockport’s running backs averaged at least 4 yards on the ground with starting running back Dan Andrews gaining 135 yards on 30 attempts.

Things will have to turn around fast for the football team, if they want to finish strong. Quarterback Ken Emmons will have to improve his accuracy and the defense will have to be able to get stops. Both aspects of the game play off of each other so one won’t be able to improve unless the other does as well.

The Bobcats next game will be here in Frostburg on 10/18/14 against Ithaca.
