Friday’s Field Day, Held by the National Council of Negro Women
This past Friday, Sept. 6th, the National Council of Negro Women put on a field day event in the upper quad of Frostburg State University.
The event was bound to succeed with the sun shining and a multitude of different clubs having tables and games all around. Sorority Delta Sigma Theta, “an organization of black college women committed to constructive development and to public service,” had a water balloon toss game. The Lady Bugs, a female mentoring group on campus, had an egg race. There was also Zeta Phi Beta, a sorority who, “serve to empower people from all walks of life,” had a jump rope game, including double dutch.
In total there were 12 different organizations some including the Strutters Dance Team, the Carribean Student Association (CSA), Phi Beta Sigma, the African Student Association (ASA), the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and the Latin American Student Organization (LASO). All of these organizations had tables at this event, held games and were able to have a great time in the sun. There were snow cones, cotton candy, music and an event that showed diversity and unity among some of Frostburg’s most representative organizations.
