Frostburg Falls to Notre Dame After Close Match
The Frostburg State University (FSU) Bobcats traveled to Ohio to take on the Notre Dame Falcons. Both teams headed into this game undefeated and looking to add to their records. Around 5:41 in the first quarter, Frostburg struck first as Graham Walker hit Malik Morris for a 9 yard touchdown, making the score 7-0. Notre Dame would get their first points of the game in the second quarter as kicker Tanner Harding connected on a 27 yard field goal making the game 7-3 with 7:12 left in the first half. Later on in the second quarter, Notre Dame scored a touchdown thanks to Chris Brimm, making it 10-7 and giving the Falcons the lead.
A couple minutes later, Notre Dame got the ball back before the end of the half and scored with under a minute to play, making it 17-7 after a 3 yard touchdown run by Idris Lawerence. Shortly after, Notre Dame got the ball back and connected on a 39 yard field goal attempt by Tanner Harding, resulting in a score of 20-7 at halftime. Frostburg came out of the locker room after halftime and had an electrifying play. Graham Walker connected to Kyle Belack on a 63 yard touchdown pass cutting Notre Dame’s lead to 6. Those would be the only points scored in the 3rd.
In the 4th quarter, Falcons kicker Tanner Harding connected on a 31 yard field goal making the score 23-14. One minute later, after they made the field goal, Frostburg would drive down the field and score on a 2 yard touchdown run by Josh Maxwell, making it a 23-21 Notre Dame lead. Unfortunately for the Bobcats, they had more opportunities, but failed and ultimately suffered their first loss of the season.
Notre Dame went on to win this contest with a score of 23-21. The Bobcats record is now 5-1 and will take on Wheeling at home for their homecoming game, that game will begin around 2:00 P.M. EST.
