Frostburg Falls to Shepard in Home Opener
The Frostburg Bobcats men’s basketball team played host to Shepard in their home opener for the 2021 basketball season.
Sheppard started off the game with a strong attack by the offense scoring a three pointer. The Rams would continue on the attack and would lead 11-8 with about 15 minutes to go in the first half. The Bobcats would continue on the attack and they would get their first lead of the half with about 10:20 to go in the first half leading 17-16 thanks to a layup which was responsible by the senior Sean Patterson.
Both the Bobcats and Rams would continue delivering baskets by both teams and would eventually go to halftime making it 38-37 at that half.
Opening the second half, the Rams would continue the strong attack on offense getting two more baskets before Frostburg would get their first bucket thanks to the junior Justin Bailey cutting it to a 42-38 Rams lead. At around the midway point of the second half, Frostburg would get two straight buckets by the junior Michael Tate Jr. but the Rams would maintain their lead at 51-50 with about 5 minutes to go in the game.
The Bobcats would cut the game close thanks to a huge three pointer by sophomore Jaylon Johnson to make it 67-64. Sadly for the Bobcats, those will be the last points scored by them.
The Rams would score 9 more points before the final score would be 76-64 Rams as Frostburg will start the season 0-3. Frostburg will fall their first home opener of the season and falling to 0-3 on the season so far. Jaylon Johnson would lead the bobcats with 14 points on Wednesday night matchup including 4-5 from 3 point land.
The Frostburg Bobcats will face off against West Virginia Wesley on Saturday as the Bobcats are in search for their first win of the season.
