Frostburg Football Dominates West VA. Wesleyan

On Saturday, November 5, the Bobcats hosted West Virginia Wesleyan and were looking for their third straight win.

The Bobcats’ offense started the game off slow after QB Graham Walker threw an interception on the first drive. After multiple runs by Josh Maxwell and Sean Aaron FSU settled for a field goal late in the first quarter which gave them a 3-0 lead.

After getting the ball back QB Isaiah Lester took the ball on the first play and ran 31 yards for a touchdown that extended the lead to 10-0 FSU.

The Bobcats’ defense came ready to play; they absolutely shut down the running game for Wesleyan who only completed 5 rushing yards the entire game. FSU also had 14 tackles for a loss of yards with six sacks to go on top of that.

Frostburg did not stop after just one touchdown. QB Graham Walker found Jamil Bishop for a 66-yard touchdown that put FSU up 17-0. The Bobcats’ defense was not allowing Wesleyan to have anything easy this game.

With a 17-point lead, FSU leaned on its run game which gave them two field goals in back-to-back possession, extending the lead to 23 points.

Just as Wesleyan showed some signs of hope with an eight-play drive, LB Dylan Culpen intercepted a pass and returned it 37 yards for a touchdown putting Frostburg up 30-0.

After a fumble forced by DE Yasir Holmes and recovered by WR Nate Monroe the Bobcats took two plays to run in 19 yards for the last touchdown of the evening bringing the final score to Wesleyan 0 and your Frostburg Bobcats 37. FSU dominated the game in almost all categories, the Bobcats’ forced two fumbles, MEC defensive player of the week Dylan Culpen had two interceptions, and the Bobcats’ also held Weselyen to just 215 total offensive yards compared to Frostburgs total of 379. FSU’s running scheme powered them through the game with 264 rushing yards on 43 attempts while the receiving core added 127 yards on just 9 catches.

Frostburg will play its last game of the season against West Liberty in West Virginia. FSU who is now 7-3 will look to end the season on a four-game win streak and give Head Coach Eric Wagoner an 8 and 3 start to his coaching career.
