Frostburg rolls past West Liberty to earn MEC championship

The Frostburg State University (FSU) Bobcats played host to West liberty this past Thursday in a night game that resulted in a win for Frostburg.

The Bobcats scored early on in the game and never looked back. Frostburg opened the game with a touchdown near the 9:00 minute mark of the first quarter. The touchdown pass was from Graham Walker to Chandler Breeden making it 7-0 early in the game. West liberty would respond to the touchdown with a 30 yard field goal by Owen Rozanc making it 7-3 with a little over 5:00 minutes to go in the first quarter.

The Bobcats offense would explode in the second quarter as they scored 28 points in the quarter alone. Josh Maxwell started the quarter with a 66 yard touchdown run extending the Bobcats lead to 14-3. Frostburg gained the ball back again and scored on a passing touchdown from Graham Walker to Zae Giles for a 9 yard score making it 21-3. The Bobcats defense would get a turnover giving the ball back to the Bobcats. Frostburg got another touchdown off the turnover thanks to a 25 yard touchdown pass from Graham Walker to Malik Morris making it 28-3. The two connected again just before halftime on a 23 yard touchdown pass making the score 35-3 at halftime.

The Bobcats offense would continue their dominance in the second half as Graham Walker would connect to Malik Morris again on a 65 yard touchdown pass. This was a career game for Malik Morris, racking up eight catches for 216 yards. The Bobcats finished the rest of the game with a couple more touchdowns before winning the night’s matchup. The Bobcats win puts them at 10-1 as they earn a share of the Mountain East Conference Championship with Notre Dame who has the same record.

The final score from the game is 56-3, leaving the Bobcats to finish the regular season at 10-1 as they now await the 2021 playoffs.
