Frostburg Women’s Soccer Draws St. Mary’s in Double OT

The Bobcat women’s soccer team captured their second tie of the season as the scored stayed 0-0 throughout regulation and two overtime periods.

Frostburg outshot the Seahawks 12-10 and had the better of chances throughout the game. The Bobcats had two opportunities to break the draw in the second overtime. Junior Hailey Turney and sophomore Brooke Shehade both had shots saved within the opening minutes. St. Mary’s goalkeeper Sydney Larkin stopped both shots keeping the score at 0-0.

Sophomore midfielder Gwen Schemm led the Bobcats in shots with three, two of which were on goal. She had attempts saved in the 56th and 65th minute of the game. Hailey Turney, Brooke Shehade and junior Dani Ferris each had two shots apiece.

Frostburg’s defense kept St. Mary’s from registering a shot in the first half of play.

Bobcat goalkeeper, junior Emily Faust, saved a St. Mary’s header later in regulation play. Faust had three saves on the night and registered her first shutout in what was her first start.

The women’s soccer team hosts Mary Washington on Wednesday at 7:30 for another CAC matchup.
