Frostburg Women’s Soccer Takes the Win on the Road

On Wednesday night, the Frostburg Women’s Soccer team played against Alderson Broaddus in Philippi, West Virginia.

The Bobcats dominated the game coming out with a 3-0 win. Within the first three minutes of the first half, freshman Keely Knotts took a shot at the goal only to have it deflected by Alderson’s goal keeper, Olivia Kqira. Scoring the first goal for the Bobcats was Caroline Burton who followed through after the deflection and set the pace for the rest of the game.

With multiple attempts to score another goal, freshman Carolyn DeSena, sophomore Toni Fiocco-Mizer, and senior Audra Curtin kept making advances on goal with no luck. By the end of the first half, senior and center back, Mackenzie Folch took a shot 35 yards out, making not only the second goal of the game but scoring her first collegiate goal as well. During the second half, freshman defender Catherine Smith crossed a ball to senior Alexis Pate. After this, Pate was able to beat the defenders and had a one on one break away with the goal keeper. This ended in having a successful goal which added to the Bobcats 3-0 win. Overall, Frostburg had 31 total shots with 17 on net compared to Alderson Broaddus having none.
