FSU Department of Music Presents Student Recital Series NO. 1

On Wednesday, March 27, the Performing Arts Center held a student recital in the Pealer Recital Hall. The first act was Kamonte Johnson, who played Etude 13 by Anthony J. Cirone on the snare drum. Anthony Cirone is a percussionist, composer, author, educator, and a prolific composer with more than 100 published titles, including textbooks, symphonies for percussion, sonatas, string quartets, and works for orchestra and concert band. Next up was Hannah Polk and Maggie Malat. They both played the cello and performed Wistful Waltz by Unknown. After the cello duo was Nate Richards, who played the guitar. Richards performed Etude 7 by Matteo Carcassi, a famous Italian guitarist and composer. A lot of musicians play Carcassi’s music because all of his Etudes show great technical skills. Next up, Reiss Mikula played two pieces on the marimba. The first was called Rain Dance by Alice Gomez and Marilyn Rife and was very upbeat, giving a tropical feel. The other piece was called Etude in C Major by Clair Omar Musser. The audience was very pleased with all of these performances.
