FSU Football falls 14-3 to Alfred
After a big win last week, the Frostburg State University football team fell to Alfred 14-3. Last week’s big offensive performance was a thing of the past as the team struggled passing the ball this week. Ken Emmons completed only 5 of his 21 pass attempts. Those five completions only totaled 20 yards.
This has been the story all season for Emmons. One game he’ll have a fine showing, where he completes about 70% of his passes and throws 2 touchdowns, then the following two weeks or so his performance would be mediocre. The team needs a consistent passing game to compliment its great run game.
Against Alfred the team ran for a total of 153 yards. Ben Sasu was the team’s leading rusher with 120 yards on the ground from 25 attempts. That averages out to be about 4.7 yards per carry. 120 yards in a game for a running back is impressive, but it’s even more impressive since the passing game wasn’t much help. Alfred had to know that a run was coming and Sasu was still able to carve out a good game even with the defense stacking the box against him.
Defensively the team played okay. They played a bend, but not break defense against Alfred. The defense allowed 294 total offensive yards to Alfred, but that only came to the team scoring 14 points. Unfortunately the Bobcats offense couldn’t put the points on the board to take advantage of the defense’s hard work.
The Bobcats next game is against Hartwick in Oneonta, New York on Nov. 1.
