FSU Police Officer Arrested On Sex Offense

The Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) arrested Frostburg State University (FSU) police officer Jarrett Devon Warnick,43, on Thursday, May 29 after a warrant was issued, according to C3I.

Warnick is charged with second degree sexual assault, perverted practice, and second degree assault, per C3I.

In 2009, Warnick allegedly had sexual relations with a then 18 year old student while armed and on duty, also according to C3I. That student, who remains anonymous, gave the information to FSU officials after graduating this spring. FSU officials reported the information to C3I, who interviewed the victim for more information. Further research supported the victim’s allegations, according to a C3I press release. Subsequently, C3I applied for and obtained an arrest warrant for Warnick.

He was released on an unsecured bond of $50,000.00, and is free pending his next court appearance, per C3I.

According to a university statement, “Under the provisions of the Law Enforcement Officers’ Bill of Rights, Warnick has been suspended from the University without pay pending the resolution of his case.”

C3I stated that the investigation is continuing and additional charges are being considered.

“FSU continues its commitments to prevent sexual assault, care for survivors and deal with those responsible, and will continuously work to improve our practices and increase awareness. With ongoing leadership from the University’s administration, this effort will require the commitment of the entire campus community,” stated a FSU spokesperson in a press release.
