FSU Volleyball Versus West Liberty

On Friday October 8th, Frostburg State University’s (FSU) Womens Volleyball had a game against West liberty, losing to them 3-1.

The first game was being led by Frostburg for most of the beginning stage of the game. From kills by Beverly Braun and AJ Thompson, to a service ace also from Braun, the Bobcat women had things in control, leading 8-4. Unfortunately for the Bobcats, the West Liberty Hilltoppers went on a run of their own, scoring five consecutive times. In the end, the score was 25 – 18 West Liberty winning.

Game 2 showed resilience from FSU, allowing there to be a close game, but still not allowing the Hilltoppers to victorious in this one. The game was tied at 18 when a kill and attack error from Sydney Hammond and Katelynn Fritz gave FSU a cushion for the next scores, to eventually win the set 25 – 21. This gave the Bobcats great confidence going into the next set.

In game 3 the score would have to go above 25 because of the win by 2 rules. McKaily Thomson-Moran tied the score at 24 on a kill, but a service error quickly erased that score. Points from an attack error was scored by MacKenzie Daub, but once again and answer came from West Liberty. An answer that finished off FSU. The 4th set had the same intensity, just once again resulting in West Liberty coming out on top by 2 points. The final score was 26 – 24.

Throughout the series, Braun and Thompson led in number of kills. Hayley Delor led in assists for the Bobcats with 42. Braun also led in number of digs along with Bianca smalls with them both reaching 15 or more.

The Bobcats Volleyball team will take to the court again against the Davis & Elkins on Oct. 12. The Game will be set for 7 P.M. in Elkins, WV.
