Get Animated
Let’s be honest, we all love good comic book series, anime shows, and superheroes. FSU’s University Programming Council (UPC) decided to give students the opportunity to show their love with their version of Comic Con. Students were invited to come to the Lane University Center ARMAH at 5 p.m. on March 5.
Attendees were allowed to dress in costumes that resembled their favorite characters. The Lane University Center’s Moe’s contributed tortilla chips, salsa, and queso dip as snacks for the attendees. The menu also included the options of iced tea and water. On the list of activities, UPC encouraged the students to get animated, as they had an artist on sight to create caricatures of the students.
For those students who indulge in the gaming realm, there was a screen set up for them to play the university’s Xbox One gaming system. What game was featured, you ask? Well, it was none other than Injustice 2. Though the caricatures, the game system, and the food were all enjoyable for the students, the main attraction was the big screen.
What better way to get students excited for Comic Con than with a movie? Attendees were able to sit and enjoy a screening of Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron with their friends. The event was a double feature, so students not only got to see Avengers: Age of Ultron, they also go to see a screening of the exciting sequel Avengers: Infinity War. Also, Frostburg’s Fandom Society made an appearance at the event. The Fandom Society hosted a table at the event that allowed students to engage in even more comic related games.
We here at The Bottom Line would like to thank UPC and Fandom Society for hosting such a great event. We can’t wait to see what else these organizations have in store for the campus.
