Giuseppetti Sets New 400-Meter Record

On Nov. 8th, the Frostburg State University (FSU) swimming team competed at home against the York Spartans. The men’s team lost 115-82, and as for the women’s swimming team, they loss 118-63. It goes down a loss as a whole in the records, but there were some highlights of the night.

The men’s swim team earned two wins and finished in the top five 22 times. The women earned a 1st place finish and three second-place finishes.

The two wins for the men came from junior Anthony Giuseppettii in the 800-meter freestyle with a time of 9:16:59 and a 400-meter freestyle time of 4:22:81. In winning the 400-meter freestyle, he also set a new Frostburg State University swimming record, beating the previous time of 4:24:77, a record that lasted 19 years. Teammate Sawyer Conklin finished behind Giuseppetti with a time of 4:36:03.

Junior Brady Peterson came in 2nd place in the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 57:34.

Sophomore Adam Stein was proficient in the individual medley of the 400-meter coming in 2nd place with a time of 5:15:66. He also came in 3rd place finishing the 100-meter in 1:00:11. Sophomore Luke Russell finished just above Stein, coming in 2nd place with a time of 59:06.

For the women, sophomore Gabby Thompson finished in 2nd place in the 400-meter individual medley with a time of 5:49:51. First-year Rayna Cicen also came in 2nd place in the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 1:10:00.

Cicen, Thompson, and graduate student Maria Russo were a part of senior Megan Culbertson’s 1st place finish in the 200-meter freestyle relay with a time of 2:06:41.

First-year Freedom Morant had a pair of 3rd place finishes, one being in the 50-meter freestyle where she finished in 31:69, and the other being in the 100-meter freestyle where she finished in 1:15:44.

Culbertson also finished 2nd in the 100-meter backstroke in 1:19:75. In the 400-meter individual medley, junior Megan Hendershot came in 3rd place in 6:14:87.

The Bobcats will go face West Virginia Wesleyan on Nov. 9th at 1:00 p.m. for their next meet.
