Giuseppetti Wins Four Events on Senior Day

Junior men’s swimmer Anthony Giuseppetti broke several school records in a Frostburg loss to Notre Dame. Frostburg’s women’s team would also suffer a defeat to the Falcons at the senior day meet on Feb. 1st.  

The women’s team won four events while the men’s team claimed seven victories. 

Sophomore Haley Benedictis made a splash for the women. She won the 100-meter breaststroke (1:24.39) and 100-meter IM (1:15.94)

Senior Megan Culberson,  one of the four recognized for senior day, also had an impact finishing first in the 200-meter breaststroke (3:06.18). First-year Rayna Cicen won the 100-meter backstroke (1:15.43). 

Cicen, Benedictis,  sophomore Aubree Morris and Culbertson finished second place in the 100-meter medley relay (1:05.14). Graduate student Maria Russo in the 600-meter freestyle (8:51.06), Culbertson in the 50-meter freestyle (30.33), Maya Wilson in the 200-meter backstroke (2:48.57) and Benedictis in the 200-meter breaststroke (50.15) all finished second in their respective events.

Giuseppetti had a stud performance for the men’s team, winning four events. His first record-breaking performance came in the 100-meter backstroke (1:00.22), the record was formerly held by Kelly Ryan. 

Also, Giuseppetti’s 200 meters of the 800-meter freestyle relay broke another school record (1:57.77). 

The next record-breaking showcase would come in the final event. Giuseppetti, junior Sawyer Conklin, junior Brady Peterson, and sophomore Luke Russell all pitched in to win the 800-meter freestyle relay (8:33.94). 

Russell, Gioffreda and Peterson all made an impact for the Bobcats with Gioffreda breaking the America S6 Paralympic world record in the 100 meter IM (1:30.52). 

The Bobcats have one week to prepare for their first GMAC/MEC Championship in Canton, Ohio that will begin on Wednesday, Feb. 12th.
