Homecoming Celebrates Student Talent
The SGA homecoming committee hosted a week of events for the campus community in honor of Homecoming. Monday invited students to sign the FSU letters on display in the lobby of Lane. Tuesday followed with the chance for the first 100 students to tie-dye a ‘Paint the Burg Red’ t-shirt on the upper quad.
Bobcat talent was on display at the Student Showcase on Wednesday, Oct. 2nd in the Manicur Assembly Hall in the Lane University Center. Students got the opportunity to come out and show their hidden or maybe not so hidden talents. The crowd was packed with many excited faces ready for a wide range of talents preparing to take the stage and do us all some justice. From dancing and singing, to even modeling, the audience was struck by the talent of their peers.
When first entering the room, you knew the energy is going to be crazy amazing when you see DJ Cray Zay and Ryan Compton are going to be hosting the show. Paparazzi Perfect came in and modeled their way in the eyes of many and in a way that could not have been done any better.
In addition to the show, some students represented celebrities in the best way they knew how. Beyoncé and her girls kicked off the show and displayed just why she earned her spot at Coachella. The following celebrity was Kanye West, appearing to demonstrate just how you get to his net worth amount. We even had Chris brown come on stage and give us a reason to scream, with Brittney Spears appearing and showing off just how toxic her moves really are. The student showcase highlighted many great talents and even different cultures.
Frostburg’s Caribbean Student Association’s dance crew was a favorite of the night. They gave such an elegant cultural performance, drawing tears of joy. The crowd was already hyped up for all the performances before, but the CSA crew really got the crowd moving.
Doing what you love and representing where you come from deserves respect from everyone.
