Late@Lane Presents Mischief Managed

The wizarding world of Harry Potter has been enchanting since day one, so it’s no surprise that we were all in awe upon walking into February’s Late at Lane.

There were many exciting activities listed on the posters, but no one was fully prepared for what the night had in store. The minute students stepped off of Station 9 & 3/4, they entered Hogwarts.

The house flags hung proudly, and projections lit up the walls. Each student was given raffle tickets and an itinerary for a fun-filled night, starting with a petting zoo.

Wait, a petting zoo? Animals? In the Lane Center? It does sound kind of wild, but there was no false advertisement. Students had the amazing opportunity to see and hold many animals, including a skunk, a mini yak, an alpaca, a chinchilla,  a peacock, a porcupine, and even a huge yellow snake. While this might have been enough activity for some, there was still so much more to do!

Late at Lane often offers fun crafts and DIY opportunities, so it wasn’t too surprising to find that students were able to personalize a coffee mug, plant a cactus, and make their own personalized body wash, but they were still a hit!

There was also a green screen for pictures, bingo, Harry Potter trivia, escape rooms, a sorting hat quiz, and a special screening of Harry Potter. Another cool thing was the opportunity to participate in special tarot card readings. Students could get a little glimpse into what the future has in store for them.

Many students just wanted to know if they would win the raffle. The raffle winners were announced at the end of the night. Students had the chance to win AirPods, an Xbox, and a Nintendo Switch.

Many students were heard saying they had never seen or read the Harry Potter series, and this event was enough to encourage them to do so.

Sophomore, Gabriela Oramas, was so impressed with Late at Lane that she immediately began watching the series. She said, “That was actually a lot of fun even though I have never seen Harry Potter before!”

Gabriela speaks for a lot of students in this. If you missed this month’s Late at Lane, be sure to attend the next one! You never know what’s in store.
