LeBron James Breaks NBA All-Time Scoring Record

Ladies and Gentlemen, LeBron Raymone James Sr. is now your number one scorer in NBA history.

We have all been anticipating the night it would happen, and it finally came February 7th against the Oklahoma City Thunder. James has eclipsed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in most points scored all-time with 38,390. Abdul-Jabbar held the record for thirty-nine years, almost half of many people’s lives. To be able to see the record be broken, must mean very much many fans that were watching the game, the fans in the arena, the teammates that assisted James in breaking the record, and James himself.

Shannon Sharpe, a sports broadcaster, said on his show Skip and Shanon: Undisputed; “Even though the Lakers didn’t win the game, it was like, the people were so happy because they know what they witnessed. And they don’t know if you’ll ever witness something like that again.”

We say congratulations to James on his accomplishment, but the story is far from over for him and the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Lakers are currently on a two game losing streak, and are in thirteenth place in the west with a record of 25-30. Along with the news of James being very close to breaking the all-time scoring record, the trade request of Kyrie Irving and speculation about on what team he could land was front page for about a weekend as well.

A team that many people were excited to see Irving be traded to was the Lakers. Mostly because it would mean the reunion of the championship duo James and Irving. That hope was over after the NBA reported that the Mavericks successfully traded for Kyrie Irving.

As it stands, there isn’t any trade, nor free agent pick up that the Lakers will be looking for to solve the problem of climbing the standings in the west. It is now just an emphasis on consistency.

There was a lot of press and attention surrounding the potential record breaking game of James, and may have caused there to be a bit of distraction for the rest of the team. Now that the celebration is all over, the Lakers should be able to refocus for Thursday night, and they better be for a tough Milwaukee Bucks team looking for their ninth win in a row.

Hopefully James is able to lead his team the Lakers for as long as he wants to, and continues giving NBA fans a reason to call him one of the greatest ever.
