Let’s Go to the Movies!
Frostburg State University (FSU) does a wonderful job of keeping their students happy with free programs on a regular basis. Every month, they have what they like to call Late at Lane, a night of free food and fun in the Lane University Center. Sometimes they offer free incentives throughout the day which may include stuffed animals, free candy, or even a cupcake bar. All of these programs are planned and executed by the FSU’s University Programming Council (UPC).
This council consists of students who live both on and off campus. The students devote time out of their days to plan events that will interest their fellow bobcats. On Thursday, April 25 the council decided to give their fellow students an opportunity to attend the big screen. UPC frequently plans movie nights for the students, to give them the opportunity to view recent films that they may not have had the opportunity to see in theaters.
The event was held at 7 p.m. in the Atkinson room of the Lane University Center. To give students the true movie experience, UPC included bags of free popcorn. The popcorn was a great touch, but the real crowd pleaser was the big screen viewing of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse. Students filled the seats of the screening eager to see the film that had been released back in December of 2018.
The film tells the story of a young boy in Brooklyn, N.Y. who has recently gained unbelievable abilities. He must use his abilities to save not only his friends, but the world as he knows it. The animated film, with such a great story line, was aided by great music such as Juicy by the Notorious B.I.G.
We here at The Bottom Line would like to thank UPC for hosting such a great event. We are also excited to see what other programs the students on UPC have planned for their fellow bobcats this semester.
