Live at Lane: Megan Thee Stallion
There is hip hop music blaring. So much so that the walls are shaking.
The Lane Center has never been more crowded. Hundreds of students arrive in their cutest outfits and are ready to see one of rap’s biggest female names.
Manicur Assembly Hall was lit up with flashing lights of red, blue, purple. Students were excited while dancing to DJ music and finding their friends.
Selfies were taken, memories were made, all before our star of the night even arrived. That’s one of the best parts about concerts. You’re there to enjoy good music with friends.
After about thirty minutes of dancing to DJ music, people began to get restless. “Where is she?” “Is she even coming?” The room was filled with confusion, but the crowded dancing continued in hopes that the concert would begin soon.
After many fake entrances, she finally came out, and the overall conflict diminished. The crowd had forgotten how long it took her to come out, but there she was: Megan Thee Stallion. The crowd was screaming her name, jumping up and down, and rapping to all the words. The wait was worth it. She even called people onstage to dance with her.
Megan Thee Stallion was a good choice for Live at Lane because she appeals to a wider range of students. Meg loves to spread her message of having fun while being a college student. She always raps about how it’s okay to go out and have fun, meet boys or girls, and just live young. She says it’s okay to have fun, but if you’re really lit then you won’t let it get in the way of you’re schoolwork. You’ll still go to class, make the grades, and you won’t ever let a man (or woman) get in the way of it.
Although it felt as if the concert was over in 5 minutes, it was really fun. The music was loud, the students were immersed in the music, and Megan really connected with her audience, so much so that it was easy to forget how famous she was. With the ability to do this, she is easily one of the most powerful female rappers out there. Thank you, Meg, for spreading your message and keeping the energy up and the adrenaline flowing.
