Local Police Seeking Information on Off Campus Harassment Incidents

The Frostburg City Police Department and the Frostburg State University Police Department are seeking information related to off campus harassment incidents.

“University Police are assisting Frostburg City Police in seeking information about a pair of incidents that occurred on Thursday, Sept. 10, and around Friday, Sept. 25,” said FSU Police Chief Cynthia Smith. “In each of the incidents, an African American female student walking in a neighborhood near campus was harassed by a group of white males in a pickup truck, who shouted racial slurs and acted in a threatening manner. Neither of the women was injured.

“Frostburg City Police are investigating these incidents, which they believe are related. They are now seeking assistance from the community in identifying the men in the truck, and in learning if anyone else has had a similar experience. Please call Frostburg City Police at 301-689-3000 or University Police at 301-687-4223, or you may leave an anonymous message at the TIPS hotline, 301-687-STOP (7867).”
