Maryland in Stage 3

As of Friday, September 4, Maryland entered stage 3 of Governor Hogan’s recovery plan to reopen the state. This means that movie theaters and live entertainment venues are now reopened with a 50% capacity limit, and the permitted capacity of retail shops and religious services has increased from 50% to 75%. Stage 3 is taking place in phases, and individual jurisdictions have the final say regarding the timing of reopenings.

The Maryland State Board of Education has voted to require any school systems that are not planning to resume in person instructing reevaluate this decision by the end of the first quarter of the school year. All Maryland schools have been authorized to reopen, but the final decision is still in the hands of county Boards of Education.

Governor Hogan also announced that Maryland is partnering with Apple and Google to deploy Exposure Notifications Express. If used, this program will allow public health officials to provide notifications for their residents about potential COVID-19 exposure and provide recommended actions.

There are currently approximately 117,245 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Maryland. Allegany County is home to 430 of those cases. To keep track of COVID 19 stats in Maryland, visit https://coronavirus.maryland.gov/
