Meet Men’s Basketball Coach Sean Brown
This year, Frostburg welcomes a new head coach for the men’s basketball team, Sean Brown. Coach Brown is the 14th head coach in program history. He is an alum of Frostburg himself, earning both his bachelor’s (2003) and master’s (2005) degrees from Frostburg. Prior to returning to Frostburg to continue his coaching career, Coach Brown served as the head coach for Pitt-Bradford for the last three seasons.
The Bottom Line had the opportunity to speak with Coach Brown to ask him some questions about the upcoming season. Coach Brown is most excited to get the season underway to see “how all of this talent jells.” The first game of the season is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 12 against Cheyney University, which is a Division II institution. Coach Brown knows that the players will “work hard and compete their butts off.”
Looking back at his playing time here during his undergraduate years, his favorite opponent to play was the University of Pitt-Bradford. These were the days before upgraded facilities, so Coach Brown said it “reminded him of his old rec center where he grew up as a child.” For this season, Coach Brown has high expectations for the Bobcats to “establish themselves as a defensive powerhouse.” Every opponent they play should have to work for the win, just like the Bobcats will.
Coach Brown is excited about the move Frostburg is making to Division II. He believes that this change will offer “wonderful opportunities as well as challenges” for the athletic programs at Frostburg. Frostburg welcomes back three returning starters from last year’s basketball team that won 11 games last season. Coach Brown hopes to bring home more wins this season and encourages everyone to come out to a game and support the Bobcats as they compete in the Capital Athletic Conference for the last time.
