Men’s Soccer Hits Three Game Win Streak
FSU Men’s soccer is off to a solid start in 2014 as the Bobcats have won five of their first eight, giving them a 5-2-1 overall record. The team’ s two losses came against Juniata and Johns Hopkins. Both games were lost by just one goal. FSU’s lone tie came against Eastern Mennonite in double overtime.
After starting the season 2-2-1, the Bobcats hit a hot streak that started with a 5-0 landslide victory against Washington and Jefferson college. Scoring goals in the game were Nabayee Tesfu, Bryan Lentine, Daniel Ramirez, Hendrik de Wit, and Austin Campbell.
The Bocats’ next win came against Penn State Altoona. This game saw Ramirez, Mitchell Muise, and Bryan Whitmore score goals as the Bobcats won in a 3-0 shutout.
Hood College proved to be tougher competition in FSU’s next game. With the score tied 0-0 at halftime, neither team could get anything going in the first half. Muise, a junior forward, scored the go-ahead goal in the 62nd minute. Sophomore goalkeeper Hassan Mostafa kept Hood out of the net, and the Bobcats won by a goal.
The Bobcats begin Capital Athletic Conference competition against Wesley on September 27 in Dover, DE. Following another away game at Waynesburg, they will then play an eight game stretch against their CAC rivals to close out the regular season.
The Bobcats’ next home game will be against CAC rival Mary Washington on October 7.
