Men’s Track And Field At The Jim Taylor Invitational
On Saturday, March 30, the FSU men’s outdoor track and field teams competed at the Jim Taylor Invitational hosted by Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania.
The Bobcat men came back home with two wins . Senior Robert Romano ran in the 1,500-meter run and posted a sub-4:00:00 time of 3:56:49, winning the gold. Senior Shamar Nelson won in the long jump, posting a distance of 6.90 meters.
First-year Ratez McLaurin and junior Kevon Adams took fifth and sixth with McLaurin jumping a distance of 6.66 meters, and Adams jumping 6.99 meters. McLaurin also earned sliver in the triple jump with a distance of 13.08 meters. First year Justin Dunklin competed in the high jump event, taking sixth place by reaching 1.80 meters.
In the 200-meter dash, sophomore Clayton Washington placed fifth with a time of 22.78, and he also placed seventh in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11:19. Sophomore Dajon Wiseman placed ninth in the same event with a time of 11.21.
Senior Matthew Robinson placed ninth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.67, and sophomore James Schwab placed fifteenth. In the 4×100 meter relay, the team of Wiseman, Schwab, Washington, and first-year Demetrius Sims finished in third place with a time of 43.71. The second team of junior Tyriek Charles, Robinson, Sims, and Washington placed fourth with a time of 3:28:20.
Junior John Kerns earned bronze in the hammer throw, throwing 50.95 meters. Kerns also earned fifth place in shot up with a distance of 14.12 meters and placed eleventh in discus, throwing 39.39 meters. Junior Michael Blecher also threw discus with 45.93 meters to get fifth place. Junior James Naill took eighth place in the javelin throw with a distance of 56.86 meters.
FSU’s track and field team will return next week as Frostburg hosts the Bobcat Invitational on Saturday, April 6.
